not worth it
it's just not worth the hype, and it really isn't that much better than the original iphone
i would consider getting one, but i'm currently on a plan for another year.
i might pick up the next version, it will surely be a better product :)
I'm interested in getting one but...
when the diehard iPhone enthusiasts can't even get their hands on one (some don't have one even though they pre-ordered before launch day), what chance do I have? :(
Some of these nuts are lining up early each day or calling different places all the time and can't even get one.

Telstra has them
Telstra has heaps at their Bourke St Melbourne store, $847 for the 16GB outright and $150 to unlock, or you can sign up for one of their, ahem, plans. The price of the phone outright and the price of data probably isn't helping matters.
Personally I thought about getting one but in the end I tried one and couldn't write decent notes. I was just a bit meh about it after all the hype so am giving it a miss and going to keep waiting for my "ideal phone", whenever that might come out ;)
T-Life Sydney
I'm sure they would have heaps also, why don't you give them a call if you want one :)

Interesting, i find with the autocorrecting spelling the keypad is pretty proficient to write stuff with. Just typing in websites you gotta be careful with your finger pressed but I find with more use of your phone you naturally able to get better with hitting the keys in the right place anyway.
Almost, but got side tracked...
I actually went into a Telstra shop to buy one a few weeks back, ended up coming out with a Nokia N95 - and am happy for it.

Hmm,
I got a iPhone about a week or two ago. Just walked around the stores, all the various stores seemed to have 8gig models floating around. Didn't seem to be any shortage of them.
I like the phone, but I wouldn't call myself a die hard apple fan. I did a bit of research and just liked the feature set. I'd recommend a case for it though. You can get a decent plastic case for about $30 with a cover for the touchscreen that allows you to still use it (although it makes it harder to type on the edges with it, but you can always easily take it out of the cover for a short while for short sms bursts or something).
Oh and ironically the iPhone
Oh and ironically the iPhone is cheaper than my last phone. 24 month contract, last phone was a n73 with $79 and $15 repayments, this phone is $79 with $0 phone repayments and unlimited texting in the plan.
Wow that's amazing.
I wonder why it is that so many people within the developer demographic aren't interested in the iPhone?
