Yep, Commercial is
Yep, Commercial is corporation with employees. I was thinking of adding "contract game developer" for those work-for-hire guns, but I'm not sure how prevalent that role is... although considering it a bit further now, it may well be worth including.
Corporate Indies
That's fair enough then. I thought it was worth bringing up as I'm an indie, but it's all managed under a corporation. Incorporating offers many benefits and, of course, expenses and headaches. Still, I think the advantages, from a legal and marketing standpoint, are well worth the hassle. Work-For-Hire agreements for now though.
Indie. Because everyone is
Indie. Because everyone is shutting down and there's no work left. Australian creative industries are so crap they need government intervention simply to exist (hello film industry) and even the government won't touch us.
I also am the retrenched
I also am the retrenched variety of "indie developer", although I could probably be better described as long-term unemployable. Knew I should have been a fireman.
"long-term unemployable" -
"long-term unemployable" - hey don't give up!!. I'd say I'm a "short-term unemployed" and "long-term employable". :)
Actually..
Actually, that'd be a pretty good option for the poll.
I've added it, t'would be great to suss out how many are looking for game dev work.
Trend
Interesting trend at the moment. Seems quite evenly divided into thirds:
1/3 Employed on a full-time basis
1/3 Independent/Contract Developers
1/3 Unemployed/Studying
Just thought I'd note the convenient divisions.
The distinction between Commercial and Independent is a little shady I have to say. I'm working under the assumption that 'Commercial' is to indicate a corporation with employees, rather than work-for-hire arrangements. Any thoughts?
