You will have the opportunity to work on high-profile entertainment IP as well as our original IP, while helping shaping the future of the studio.

We're looking for someone with right skills and a good attitude to come in and make kick ass games with us.

What you will do:

  • • Lead the concepting and production of art for a range of mobile and console titles.
  • • Produce high quality 2D, 3D and VFX assets in a variety of styles.
  • • Produce good quality sketches to explain and sell game concepts.
  • • Drive the creation of art and ensure that a unified vision is maintained.
  • • Find artistic solutions which balance creative vision with production realities.
  • • Review other artists’ work and give feedback to ensure highest quality output is met.
  • • Collaborate with programmers to develop efficient and productive art pipelines.
  • • Work with producers to ensure that realistic schedules are created and adhered to.
  • • Be an active mentor and role model for the team.
  • • Work to maintain morale and create an atmosphere of creativity and enthusiasm.
  • • Keep informed about latest advances in game art techniques and technology.
  • • Drive creation of presentation and marketing materials to communicate the artistic vision of our games.
  • • Maintain contact with the Sydney Studio to offer expertise and advice where needed.
  • • Be actively involved with recruitment, vetting candidates, performing interviews & recommending hires.
  • • Develop the skills of other team members and raise the quality bar within the studio.

 

Requirements:

  • • Diploma/Degree in 2D/3D video game development or equivalent training/experience.
  • • 5 years’ experience with minimum of 2 years at senior level or above.
  • • Experience of working on a published game from conception to release.
  • • Strong portfolio demonstrating a high level of artistic creativity in one or more game art disciplines across a range of styles.
  • • Expert knowledge of Photoshop.
  • • Ability to quickly sketch ideas and concepts.
  • • Good understanding of latest techniques in 3D modeling.
  • • Good knowledge of latest 3D software, preferably Maya.
  • • Technical mindset with experience of implementing assets in game engines.
  • • Understanding of fundamental art theory including principles of color, light, composition and anatomy.
  • • Proven ability to balance esthetics with performance and usability.
  • • Ability to present clear documentation communicating ideas both internally and externally.

 

Other Skills:

  • • Positive influence and leadership skills.
  • • Excellent communication skills in English (spoken and written).
  • • Motivates and inspires others to generate new ideas.

AIRBAG is looking for a Unity Environmental TD to help us put the finishing touches on a VR driving experience. Style is realistic, rather than stylised. Probably about a week's work left to bring us home. Particularly looking for someone experienced in lighting, shaders and scene optimisation. A working knowledge of 3Ds Max and Substance designer would be helpful, but not essential. Likewise specific VR experience would be helpful, but not essential.

The Role

We are currently seeking an experienced/senior graphic artist to assist us on a contract(opportunity to turn into part-time or full time after contract) basis. Our whole team including game design, graphic and coding teams are all
based in our Melbourne CBD office and work collaboratively and agilely among the teams. We very much focus on creating best mobile gaming experience and strive for creating different types of gaming. As a result, you will be responsible for bringing game concept to life through the creation of art prototype assets, art style selection, animation and illustrations.

Candidate Requirements

Must have A passion for game, and experience in mobile game development.
Strong silhouettes with the ability to design appealing characters.
A strong sense of colour theory, typography, UI/UX and graphic design
Able to conceptualise and iterate prototype quickly.
The ability to create a variety of visual effects including particles.
Practical knowledge of current 2D and 3D software and game development pipelines.
Experience working with Unity game engines.
Must reside in Melbourne, Australia – no relocations.

Academy of Interactive Entertainment (AIE) has earned much recognition as a leading educator for the game development, 3D animation and visual FX industries with campuses in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Adelaide and Online.

AIE Sydney, located in Ultimo and run by a fun, supportive and highly-skilled team, is looking for a full-time Game Art and 3D Animation Teacher that has worked in industry to come and join the team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Delivering the course content using a combination of practical tutorials, lectures and one to one support
  • Planning, creation and development of new course materials, including creation of lesson plans and tutorials
  • Advising and assisting students on both creative and technical issues
  • Monitoring student progress including attendance, coursework, informal and formal assessment

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • A passion for 3D animation and being creative
  • Industry experience in game development, 3D animation or visual F
  • Practical, up-to-date knowledge of Maya
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Enthusiasm to work with students and pass on your knowledge and skills

Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Formal qualification in a related area
  • Experience in Game or Film Industry
  • Character rigging and animation skills
  • Experience using middleware game development platforms (eg: Unity, UDK or Gamebryo)
  • Familiarity with related specialist tools (eg: ZBrush, Motionbuilder, Nuke, Mudbox)

The successful applicant will co-ordinate and deliver the course content to students, working within a  small supportive teaching team. This is a full-time position.

Salary is negotiable based on skills and experience.
