As Director of Operations, you report to and work hand in hand with the CEO and Board to set and execute the strategy. You effectively run the operations of the organisation with real opportunity to increase the scope of your role over time.

Your Responsibilities

You will lead our operational, finance and people teams. You're the linchpin in our organization, supporting strategic planning and leading execution. Here's what that entails:

  • Help us recruit the best people, and design an onboarding process that let's them hit the ground running from day one.
  • Oversee day-to-day administrative and operational functions of our rapidly growing startup - everyday will be different, so being adaptable is a requirement.
  • Establish, strengthen and build the relationship we have with our gaming partners through outreach and proactive communication.
  • Help us execute on our vision for user generated content, setting strategic direction and goals, and breaking them down into tasks and plans.
  • Coordinate and work with the team, setting milestones and measuring our progress to ensure we hit our ambitious growth targets.
  • Continuously review and improve internal and external processes and procedures in a collaborative way through workshops and smart meetings.
  • Plan, attend and run events like end-of-year functions and parties, dev days, team off-sites, and gaming conferences.
  • Take responsibility for various operational activities like renewals, reporting obligations, income / expenses, procurement, office space, expansion planning etc.
  • Quickly learn how to solve weird problems in areas you know nothing about, for example sales / revenue sharing / tax, platform certification and relevant regulations like DMCA, GDPR etc.
  • Be a point of contact for external relationships including accountants, lawyers, recruitment agencies, investors, and contractors.

Your Experience

You're a true leader, motivated by success with an entrepreneurial drive and desire to improve yourself and those around you:

  • 5+ years experience working in an operations or operations-like role at a variety of organizations, from startups to large tech companies. SaaS experience is a huge plus.
  • The ability to rally and lead a team and help them execute on ambitious goals across research and development, business development, recruiting, and operations.
  • Excellent decision-making. Help us make better decisions, more quickly, by creating frameworks and processes, and outlining possible scenarios with respective pros / cons.
  • Exceptional organization skills and personal time management - you will be expected to take on a diversity of problems and solve them.
  • You are ambitious and constantly look for opportunities to increase your agency and impact.

It would be awesome if you also have:

  • A passion for video games and an understanding of the unique challenges UGC presents us and similar businesses like Youtube and Steam.
  • First-hand knowledge of capital raising, experience working with venture capital investors, and managing a fundraising round end-to-end.

Bohemia Interactive Simulations (BISim) is looking for a professional and enthusiastic Business Developer to drive sales of BISim products and services in the Australian and New Zealand markets. The position is based at our Williamtown office in NSW, Australia but requires frequent travel in Australia and New Zealand.

Job tasks and Objectives

  • Identification of business opportunities in Australia and New Zealand
  • Progressing of business opportunities to contract award and updating of tracking database
  • Business development, collation and feedback of customer requirements in Australia and New Zealand (both government and industry)
  • Writing of proposals for license sales or funding of BISim products modifications
  • Liaising with Office Managers and other Business Developers as appropriate
  • Attendance at conferences, trade shows, industry days and other events as required by BISim.
  • Build and expand new relationships and strengthen existing ones with customers and end users
  • Guide customers towards sales of products and services, and conclude those sales
  • Open up new markets and expand demand for our products and services in existing markets
  • Developing and/or recommending sales strategies for each discrete group of customers/end users
  • Meet established deadlines and goals
  • Foster industry usage and deployment of BISim products
  • Respond to Requests for Information (RFI) and Requests for Proposals (RFP) in an appropriate and timely manner
  • Provide input to the product roadmap from a commercial perspective

Reports to

  • Managing Director, BISim Australian Office

Key Skills

  • Great organisational skills
  • The ability to travel frequently within Australia and New Zealand
  • Strong writing skills (proposals, product briefings, responses to RFIs and RFPs etc)
  • High motivation and the ability to be a self­starter
  • Good IT skills
  • The ability to cultivate and maintain productive relationships with our customers
  • The ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers
  • The ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions

Education and Experience

  • Military experience or knowledge
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of the ArmA or VBS products would be desirable but is not required
  • Previous sales or business development role experience highly desirable
  • Past or current military service desirable

We're looking for an outstanding Marketing/Business Development Manager to join our team. This is a new position due to the growth of the self-publishing side of our business, commencing ASAP.

  • Take responsibility for driving revenue. The success of this role will be measured against revenue growth, so you will need a thorough, analytical and methodical approach.
  • Channel Management: develop the highest level of expert knowledge of the digital channels through which we sell and promote our games (for example, Apple App Store, Steam, PlayStation Network, Facebook), including recommending and implementing pricing strategies and developing promotional opportunities.
  • Brand Management: the role includes aspects of brand management – researching and developing opportunities for our existing brands and games including licensing, sponsorships and platform expansion.
  • Industry Analysis: keep abreast of general industry development, in particular competitor activity.
  • Business Development: you will manage a small number of B2B relationships with some of our hardware and platform partners, but predominantly focus on our millions of players. There is no requirement for cold calling or generating leads.
  • Work with our marketing team to implement campaigns, measure and analyse results.
  • This is a start-up department within an established and prospering studio, so you will need to take a flexible, proactive and hands-on approach to getting things done.

Who we're looking for

  • You have at least 3 years experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated experience driving revenue with measurable results in a previous position, by originating and implementing profitable business strategies.
  • Proven track-record with high quality consumer goods, ideally in discretionary spending areas such as entertainment or digital content.
  • li>Understanding of digital channels and analytics, and experience generating revenue from long tail sales.
  • Pro-active and self-motivated with a laser focus, great drive and energy and a demonstrated ability to knuckle down and execute.
  • Outstanding organisational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Obsessive attention to detail and exceptional judgement.
  • Clear, concise, effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interest in games as well as internet and tech trends is essential.
  • Tertiary qualifications in marketing, business or related fields.

Melbourne-based Tantalus is recruiting at present for two new management positions. These new roles are as a result of the companies recent growth, and come as a precursor to the next phase of its expansion. The new positions are:

Executive Producer
Business Development Manager

Tantalus CEO Tom Crago said the company had plans to continue its expansion. "We have a great management structure at present, but we need to boost that as we grow. These are two very exciting positions, open to experienced, game-industry personnel. We're looking for people who want to play key roles at Australia's most dynamic developer."

The Executive Producer position is a senior, development manager role, while the Business Development Manager position may suit either a senior candidate, or one with just a few years of experience in a similar role. The Business Development Manager will report to Tom Crago, while the Executive Producer will report to David Giles.
