The Role

Due to the kick-off of a number of awesome, game-changing projects, we are currently looking for a person with a strong background in HTML5 development - a person with passion for games and/or technology; who will use their skills in a team responsible for designing, prototyping, testing, developing, and polishing web games and other interactive experiences; a person able to work hard while having fun… Are you that person?

Requirements

The perfect candidate will have:

  • Expertise in HTML5, JavaScript, CSS, WebGL
  • Experience building web games targeting mobile, webviews, and old browsers
  • A passion for game development and creating experiences that excite, entertain, and educate
  • Experience with web game frameworks e.g. phaser
  • Experience with animation frameworks e.g. createJS
  • Familiarity with modern javascript and CSS approaches to building web structures
  • General experience with a range of modern web frameworks and development approaches
  • BSc or MSc in computer science or similar

We are seeking Game Programmer to develop games for mobile and desktop platforms. The programmer must have an modest level of experience with developing games with Unity 3D, to produce high quality and fun 3D and 2D games.

The minimum requirement for candidate selection is to show at least one commercially released game which the candidate completed a majority of the programming. The quality of these games must be of an excellent standard. The programmer will need to demonstrate the games they have developed in an interview and be able to discuss the development of their games by showing snippets of C# source code. The Game programmer must exhibit a mix of creativity and technical know how in the games they have developed.

Additional to our minimum requirements we favor candidates who have experience with 3D modelling tools, game design, frame by frame animation, sound editing and artwork creation tools (Photoshop).

This position is a long term contract, initially 3 months in duration rolling weekly here on. Weekly rates dependant on experience. The candidate must work onsite 9am-6pm, 5 days a week from our vibrant Surry Hills, Sydney office.

    GAMEPLAY PROGRAMMER

    Loveshack is looking for a contract gameplay programmer either in the video game industry already or experienced with indie developed games (personal projects included!). The role will involve a variety of different programming-driven tasks, including:

    • Adding new gameplay features to our games (C++)
    • Prototyping new game ideas (C++ and potentially Unity)
    • Supporting and fixing bugs in our existing games/engine/tools (C++)

    Required Skills:

    • Solid command of C, C++ and C#.
    • Experience with OpenGL.
    • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming.
    • Strong understanding of 2D maths concepts.
    • Understanding of version control, experience with SVN and/or Git.
    • Ability to learn new concepts quickly.
    • Proactive and interested in learning new concepts or exploring software libraries.
    • An eye for detail and an ability to take a design and fill in the blanks.

    Demonstrable Experience A Must

    At Loveshack, we recognise that not all applicants may have relevant industry experience.     The Academy of Interactive Entertainment (AIE), the leading educator in game development, 3D animation and VFX, is looking for an experienced game programmer to deliver Advanced Diploma of Professional Game Development (Game Programming) at our Sydney campus.

    The Advanced Diploma is a strongly practical and intensive course that focuses on the core skills required by game programmers. The successful applicant will develop, update and deliver the course content, administer course requirements, and provide assessment and direction over the school year. Teaching experience is desirable, but not necessary. Strong communication skills, a team orientated attitude and commercial games programming development experience are essential.

    The successful applicant will be working within a supportive and highly skilled team, across all campuses.

    This position is full time, but permanent part time will be considered (min. 3 days per week) for the right applicant.

    We have an exciting new game development internship available within our creative agency.

    Protein-One is a small, friendly, multi-media business based in Surry Hills.

    This will be a project-based game development internship role with plenty of opportunity to work on client projects and be mentored by our award-winning design and development team.

    We are offering a 2 to 3 day-a-week unpaid internship, working directly with our in-house developer and Project Manager. This would be an ideal position for someone looking to gain some industry experience.
