HEAD OF DEPARTMENT 3D ANIMATION AND GAME DESIGN
BRISBANE CAMPUS

Established in 1982, the JMC Academy is one of Australia's leading Creative Industry providers,
We are currently undergoing an exciting period of development at JMC, and are looking to fill the role of Head of Department for Animation & Game Design at our Brisbane campus to assist in this process.
As Head of Department you are responsible for academic leadership and quality delivery of the Bachelor of Creative Arts (3D Animation) & Bachelor of Creative Arts (Game Design). Most importantly, you will have the opportunity to interact with an interdisciplinary team of creative professionals and mentor the next generation.
Duties include:
• Seeking and obtaining opportunities for students to develop their industry networks, including internships and/or volunteering
• Providing academic leadership to academic staff in the 3D Animation & Game Department
• Collaborating with your Head of Department peers on the Melbourne and Sydney campuses to review curriculum, moderate assessments, and introduce teaching and learning and/or technological innovations into the programs
• Maintaining a high level of academic integrity amongst your staff and students
• Effectively and efficiently managing the delivery of the 3D Animation and Game Design course
• Representing JMC Academy positively in all your dealings
Reporting
You report to your Campus Manager on day-to-day operational matters, and to the Director of Education (based in Sydney) on academic matters.
Key selection criteria
Qualifications:
• Master’s Degree or higher in the same or closely related field of study.
Skills and experience:
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in animation and/or game design and development
• High level knowledge of and experience in a specific field (for example: 3D content creation, character animation, technical art, production art, game design and development)
• High level of proficiency and experience in Autodesk Maya, Unity and Adobe suite strongly favoured
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Working as an academic in a tertiary environment (lecturer, curriculum development)
• Ability to work in a close knit team environment
• Well organised with excellent time management skills, and able to work with minimal supervision

Facilities Assistant – ANIMATION & GAMES Specialist

JMC Academy is Australia's leading higher education provider dedicated to the education, development and training of students who are passionate about pursuing a career in the creative industries.
JMC Academy, Sydney Campus based in Ultimo, seeks to appoint a full time Facilities Assistant.
The successful candidate will be required to assist the Facilities Supervisor in the day to day operations of the on campus and also Head of Department for Animation and Games in the animation lab and other related services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
 Undertake general facilities support
 Undertake opening procedures for campus
 General admin duties (phone and email correspondence) along with providing assistance for trade personnel on campus.
 Maintain teaching spaces and equipment
 General tidiness, AV systems, cable management, PC/Mac setup and 1st level IT support
 Maintain and troubleshoot boardroom systems - Training provided
 Provide general office IT troubleshooting and support
 Maintain network and computer lab systems
 Contribute to JMC events (both internal and external) when required
 Provide specialised Animation & Games software support
o Autodesk
o Adobe
o Unity
o Other software as required
 Bookings, maintenance, setup, and administration of animation & game department equipment and supplies including:
• Laptops
• Digitising tablets
• DSLRs
• Optitrack Mo-cap system
• Vive and Oculus Go VR headsets
• Miscellaneous art and animation supplies
• Deliver occasional workshops and tutorials

ATTRIBUTES
- You will have a working familiarity with commonly used animation and game creation software and hardware.
- You will be familiar with general office IT and network support
- You will be a self-motivated person able to be proactive in maintaining facilities and responding to issues without always being under direct supervision.
- You will be someone who is able to project a professional and supportive demeanour, while still being at home in a relaxed creative environment.
- You will be someone who is able to relate well to individuals at all levels of the organisation from students through to senior management.
- You will have a flexible attitude and be able to take on new and unexpected tasks with enthusiasm.
- You will be comfortable working both in collaboration with a team and solo.

We are currently looking for experienced 3D artist to teach bachelor students within our game design course.

JMC Academy is a private university offering bachelor qualifications within the Creative Industries. We are presently recruiting for a range of teaching positions across faculty. These teaching positions are on a sessional contract.

Maya Modelling
Experience in PBR workflows
Quixel/Substance
Passion for the future of the animation industry and mentoring new talent
Experience leading junior artists & teaching experience
Bachelor qualification or equivalent in related field.
Melbourne Residency.
*Unity experience desirable.

JMC Academy is a private university offering bachelor qualifications within the Creative Industries. We are currently seeking an experienced programming teacher to work within the Game Design department of the Melbourne campus. The position is on a sessional contract.

The successful candidate will be tutoring game design students in programming fundamentals working in C# and the Unity Game Engine.

Requirements:
Game development experience in the Unity game engine.
A Masters Degree (or Honours degree and equivalent professional experience) in computer science or related field.
Teaching or supervisory experience.
Melbourne residents only.
