Ok, this is the new Draw Club activity, and it's a simple one. It shouldn't take you much time to do at all! It's the Sumea Pixel Town activity!!
http://www.sumea.com.au/sumeatown.asp
To participate, you first have to reserve your plot of land. Post in here which number you want. Some land is bigger than others, so if you don't intend to spend too much time on pixelling some art, choose the smaller ones. Once you reserve your land, take a snapshot of the webpage, chuck it in photoshop, and do your pixel-fu. When you're done, post a gif of only your area in this forum, and I'll grab it and add it to the page.
Everyone's welcome to participate (yes, even you coders!), and go nuts with ideas!! (it doesn't necessarily have to be of a house).
(btw, I'll be redesigning the logo/page a bit later.. just wanted to get the map up atm [:)])
hey Souri, chuck this in my plot number 62 please...

Thanks for making some space available. Seems there?s shortage of good land with reasonable amenities in Pixel Town!
I have developed a high density housing project that I?m hoping will help to resolve some of these space issues?

Heh, yeah, it looks great and all, but it does block out 5 other people's land! Still, if they aren?t going to bother putting anything on their plots, then I guess they won't care if their land is covered from view.
I guess it could always be removed or shrunk if the other people ever get around to making anything? At least it fills up the map for the time being.
(Hey, it should have a helicopter pad on top!)
Oh wait; there are already things on those plots. Oh well, back to the old drawing board, hey Engels? [:P]
-Unless you just want to scale it down so it doesn?t block out other people?s work. In which case, it looks something like this:

Engels, it's a bit too tall, and it also doesn't fit on the plot either (half of it is outside the town). So here's what I've done - I've modified your apartment building so it doesn't have as much levels, and I've placed it on plot 64. I'm sure VGNZ_Wozza won't mind since he's already done another plot.
That means Dom is free to take #68. Dom, on the guide where it shows you the area to build, there's a small bit of green next to your plot. You can build on that part as well. Look at the guide to see what I mean.
Yeh, Sumea town is a one-off activity. We'll get onto a new activity once all the plots on this one is done.

Maybe if something like this is done again in the future, a rule system designed to get it all filled up could be used? Like maybe a time limit to make something for your plot, and if you exceed the time limit, it gets given to the next person, and so on. Or another idea would be to not even have reserved plots, and just make it first come first served ? as in the first people to make something are the first people to get a plot to put it on. A system like this might help motivate people.
You know, a system like this could actually be used for the remaining plots? [;)]
At this rate they will never be filled.
how about just making the map a little more... generic,.. so someone that makes a building for plot 23, and is beaten to the plot, can mildly adjust it for plot 43.. or mirror image to fit elsewhere
I know I'm new here, but I'd say 48 hours is enough for someone to say.. "I wanna make that" and get the bits & peices together to make it....
I wasn't expecting people to take weeks and weeks to do their plots, so didn't think it needed much organising. Really, it should only take an hour to do something on your little plot - it's pixel art, and it doesn't need to be extremely detailed or animated either.
So c'mon people! We should've been on to the next activity by now!
How about we give the a couple of days, then if they dont submit anything they lose their plot. Then, any free plot can be taken. BUT! you cannot reserve a plot, they only way to be sure yours will be there is to be the first to submit something for that plot.
This could result in rushed work though, just a suggestion as this has really dragged on.
It's a good idea Makk, but it would work better I think, if people could reserve the new plots, and then have 24 HOURS ONLY to submit something before it goes up for grabs again. Otherwise people might spend a few hard hours making something cool, only to find the plot they made it for is gone. Like you say, we don?t want to encourage rushed work.
I think the people willing to make something deserve the plots more then the people that just dream about making something. Every other activity/challenge has some kind of time limit, this should too.
here's my little igloo, not much but yeah...
