Sumea Pixel Town!!!!

  • In my first and previous post in this game dev log entry, I had written that I wanted to do a game which was a collection of simple retro games. Unity released a new major release (2019.3) while I was putting the initial project together, and I…

  • Well, I'm making a game . I'm spending the next few weeks on making a small game to showcase the gamedev log feature on tsumea where any member can create a game entry and other members can post journal posts with art, music or just development…

  • Just a test #2. Still working on the new section.

  • So, I got a Commodore 64 when I was in the 4th grade. It came bundled with a Rolf Harris picture building program on casette tape which never loaded properly but from what I could tell by its box cover, you could build pictures from a selection…

  • Yes, the site looks very different and I've had to prematurely switch to this new theme that I'm working on for a few reasons, the main one is that changing certain aspects of the site to fit the new theme will affect how the old one looks for…

  • (this is just a test, please ignore this entry)

Here is some of my old work.. the first pic is of a 3d model of a human head I was working on about 2 years ago in 3dsmax, using nurbs. If I had to do it again, I wouldn't model a head with…

Ok, this is the new Draw Club activity, and it's a simple one. It shouldn't take you much time to do at all! It's the Sumea Pixel Town activity!!

http://www.sumea.com.au/sumeatown.asp
To participate, you first have to reserve your plot of land. Post in here which number you want. Some land is bigger than others, so if you don't intend to spend too much time on pixelling some art, choose the smaller ones. Once you reserve your land, take a snapshot of the webpage, chuck it in photoshop, and do your pixel-fu. When you're done, post a gif of only your area in this forum, and I'll grab it and add it to the page.
Everyone's welcome to participate (yes, even you coders!), and go nuts with ideas!! (it doesn't necessarily have to be of a house).

(btw, I'll be redesigning the logo/page a bit later.. just wanted to get the map up atm [:)])

Plot 13 is Kao's
l2ooney, you can't have plot 16 or 13 as they're taken
Plot 60 is Stu's
Me109, you can't have plot 25 or 38 as they're taken

The only free plots left are: 11,28,61,63,67!!

Anyway, I think I'll adjust the UFO so it's not blocking my other plots then. It's a shame, cause I don't really want to scale it down. I might just start again [:P]
-so don't place it in Pixel town just yet, thanks Souri [:)]

And about discmage's plot - it does kind of look odd overlapping other plots. It would be cool to have that corrected - especially since we can't see Pants' cool bats anymore! [:)]

Yeh, the ufo piece is a great - it's just a shame that it actually covers a lot of your hospital piece! It's up to you though if you want to scale it down or submit it as is. Let me know [:)]

Discmage's plot - the problem with animated gifs is that they have to be on their own seperate layer on the page, which means they will overlap everything. The only way of getting it to look right is by putting parts of Moonunit and Pantmonger's plot in Dismages animated gif. It has to be pixel perfect and all that to look right, but I'll have to do that a bit later.
Of course, you could save me the trouble if you did that yourselves. [:)] So if you plan on doing an animated gif, include any plots that are overlapping into your animation.

Anyway, good job, guys.. It's filling up!

Lol that was soo much harder than I thought it'd be. It's pretty simple but I loved it so I think I'm gonna practise my pixelling. It's meant to be a cinema but writing "Now Showing" really small and backwards and isometric was hard. anyways it's here
