Tom Crago Chats About Top Gear: Downforce

Company

The Age has an article with Tom Crago, chief executive of Tantalus, where they talk about the recently announced Top Gear: Downforce racing game and the new level of interactivity provided by the Nintendo DS touchscreen. They also chat about successful games with wider appeal for culturally different markets...

"It is an advantage of us in Australia that we have a Western sensibility that, as well as selling well in Japan, will move a lot of units in the key North American and European territories too," said Mr Crago, of Melbourne-based Tantalus.

Though his company, with its $A2 million annual turnover, is small beside the $A5.9 billion behemoth, Nintendo, it has managed to get attention. The deal signed this week for Top Gear: Downforce involves a 10-month production contract, creative control, an advance and royalties. The game, which is geared for Nintendo DS, comes out in October.
