Thanking our challenge sponsors

I'd like to give a big heartfelt thanks to our competition sponsors for the tsumea THQ AI programming challenge and the tsumea modeller challenge 10.

THQ Australia have provided substantial cash prizes as well as copies of their hit games, de Blob and Barnyard, to both winner and runner up challengers, Manix and SJ. I know the programmers are pretty chuffed in receiving their prizes.

For the modeller challenge, Big Ant Studios and Infinite Interactive sponsored the latest and final tsumea modeller challenge 10. Challenge winner, Paternoster, received a sizeable EB voucher (he's remarked to me that it was a lot more than he'd expected), and second place entrant, CAD, received a graphics card for his model while third place entrant, Teejay, received a terrabyte HD from our competition sponsors.

The challengers on tsumea have been an unforgettable experience and has had the exceptional support from local developers and the community alike, without which the challenges would not have been possible. THQ Australia, Big Ant, and Infinite Interactive have been absolutely awesome with corrospondance, providing industry feedback for the challengers, and following up on the prizes, so I'd like to say a massive thanks again for all their time and effort!

And to those who are lamenting the end of the tsumea challenges, please know that we are moving on to the next stage of activities on tsumea. The tsumea initiative is replacing the challenges and we hope to bring on a new kind of excitement for the community and industry. Keep watching!

Not that I was ever entering any of the competitions, but I know how helpful they were in promoting skills in students and hopefuls for the future.

Thanks to those that supported the challenges.

I sincerely hope we get some official support for the independent game projects, though I guess most are biding their time to see whether this will fly or flop. Well, at least that's the impression I felt I got from people I've talked to, general comments and Dissecta.
