de Blob coming to television

Syfy (formerly known as the Sci Fi Channel, owned by NBC Universal) has signed an agreement with games publisher, THQ, to jointly develop new intellectual properties and publish new media and opportunities on existing properties. The first property announced to come from this alliance is de Blob, with the characters and concepts from the game developed at Melbourne's Blue Tongue Entertainment. de Blob will be the first given the full treatment of webisodes, television series, and possibly even toys..

We are pleased that our owned franchise de Blob has been selected as a foundational character and storyline for Syfy’s new Syfy Kids brand,” said Doug Clemmer, Executive Vice President, THQ Kids, Family and Casual Games. “We look forward to working closely with Syfy to introduce de Blob’s colorful world to a new audience of young adults via webisodes, television and other media, broadening awareness for this loveable hero.

While I am sure that Blue Tongue won't get much from this directly, the fact that THQ seems to continue to have faith in the De Blob franchise is fantastic news.

I enjoyed De Blob on the Wii, I really hope that now they have more faith in the concept they bring the sequel to PS3 and 360 as well.

If I buy the sequel I will do so on the Wii, but the PS3 and 360 are starved of good platformers.
