Posted by souri on Thu, 07/05/09 - 4:00 PM

Ok, I'm starting a production thread for Team B. This thread is where we will list current team members, frequently update what they're currently assigned to do, and any posts regarding who is or should be doing what, and what else the project needs in terms of content and resources.

Active team members, please check this thread regularly.

Current Team members

Charcoal, Game Designer (refining game design document)
_CAD_, 3D Artist
Plusie, 3D Artist

Ok, this project is sort of at a stand still, and there are many areas where we can still move forward.

I think if Squashed Bug, if you could provide us with some screen resolution specs so we can get an idea on what the artists are working with for background art, menus and gui etc

The artists - we will most likely need the latest game design document which describes the break-down on how many backgrounds we need for each level/country, and also maybe a simple flow chart describing the GUI and menus and which buttons lead where so I can mock up some screens for that.

Team Roll Call ...

Is Charcoal still on board? We don't need a completed design doc, just a draft with only the high level sections filled in, allowing the rest of the team to review and help complete the missing sections. We really all need to be on the same page and having the whole team contributing to a single document. Since we are all working over the internet the best format for the design doc might be a Wiki page, I'm sure Souri could set us up with a page on the Tsumea Wiki which we can all edit.

It would be helpful if all team members could confirm if they still want to be involved. We may also need some new members to fill in resource gaps.

You're right, we need to get things moving. If you could give me the screen dimensions, that would help with the menu and the backdrops for the levels.

I will post an art style thread which I have mentioned before later tonight, but we can pretty much get the artists working on the assets now (modelling cooking, kitchen related objects, and various store scenes from different countries etc).

In the meantime, a roll call is definitely needed.

I've sent an email to Plusie and CAD to see if they are still interested. Charcoal is still missing in action. We'll give it a few days for Plusie and CAD to respond to see where they're at.

So, at the moment we're down a fair few players.

We're basically at Squashed_bug, myself, and Raymondl. Not good.

Potion Motion (Canceled Project) from Flashbang Studios on Vimeo.

I have a few other ideas for some other types of games which I had planned to work on entirely myself, but if it may need be, we can steer Team B into doing that instead and postpone this, because at the moment, this project has hit a stand still.

Ok folks, obviously, things need to get a moving, and I'll be here to do some prodding and to gather some ideas.

The idea for Team B was to work on small projects, and I think from Team C's experience, these projects need to have as little bottlenecks as possible. I was thinking of a few games we could work on where each artist works on their own contained level while the programmer(s) can work on refining the game mechanics. This probably means that the types of games made are restricted in that sense, but it means everyone can start on working on something, and besides I'm sure we can still be creative.

So, the obvious kinds of games I had in mind that would suit that format would be - pinball, racing (has anyone seen the dl content for Wipeout Pure?), mini golf etc. If anyone else has any other idea, let us know. We could even work on something smaller just to get something interesting complete.

I'd prefer we'd all use Unity 3D for this, btw.

Trying to get this team moving. I'm making a call for programmers who are interested in using Unity 3D and doing some small projects for this team so we can assemble interested parties and get some simple projects happening. Please post your interest here.

This is definitely something I'd love to be a part of!

I'm a games dev student, my background is I completed an Advanced Diploma in Multimedia, and I'm now in my 2nd year studying Computer Science in Games Technology at La Trobe University

I'd love to contribute as a programmer to small projects for the team, unfortunately though I can only offer approx 5 hours per week due to study and work commitments.

If 5 hours a week is enough to help the project, and you are happy to have me please let me know :)
