Game: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1969810/Enter_the_Chronosphere/
Position overview
We’re looking for an Australian 3D artist and animator to be responsible for creating all art assets in Enter the Chronosphere. This is a mature project with established pipelines and lots of existing art to work from.
You will be replacing the only 3D artist and animator on the team, working directly with our concept artist to develop new graphical content for the game.
This is an important role in the company and is most suited to somebody with proven industry experience. There will be a handover period with the outgoing artist for existing processes, but from then on you’ll be solely responsible for all 3D assets and animation.
Responsibilities
- Taking ownership of processes used to deliver assets, working in collaboration with concept artist and designer.
- Working within Unity editor to integrate your assets.
- Make 3D models (characters, enemies, weapons, and environments) from concept sketches.
- Create unique and expressive character animations for our animation system.
- Work with existing level generation tools to create assets for procedural environments.
Requirements
- Responsible: This is the most senior (and only) 3D/animator position in the company, so you will be responsible for managing art pipelines, final assets going into the game, and delivery times.
- Remote: The job is entirely remote, so you need to be comfy working from home and communicating via Discord.
- Independent: Be able to work in a self-directed way and communicate your needs with the rest of the team.
- Pragmatic: We need to get things done effectively in a small team. You need to know how to make decisions that save time and maximise real additions to the product.
- Local: Must be Australian, with a light preference for Victorians so you can join us in social activities.
- Experienced: You should be familiar with all the tools listed in the “Tools” category below, or confident in your ability to learn them.
Tools
- Blender
- Photoshop
- git and GitHub
- Unity
- Miro
- Figma
- Notion
Bonus skills
- An interest in taking more responsibility for the visual style of the game, ensuring it both looks great and communicates design to the player.
- Unity VFX Graph.
- Developing Unity shaders.
- Creating dialogue scenes.
- 2D skeletal animation for cutscenes.
Benefits
- Job security: We have a publisher!
- Start as late as 10am (that’s when we do stand-up). Greater flexibility can be discussed.
- Work with a small, chill, talented team.
- Fully remote.
- Game is cool (if we do say so ourselves).
Salary range
$80–100k depending on your experience.
Application period
Because we want to maximise the length of the handover period, we are looking to find a candidate soon.
Applications close on Friday 22nd of August, but we will start interviewing sooner, so if you think you’re right for the job, please apply ASAP.
