Is this what Visceral Games Melbourne were working on before closing?

A post made last month on the forums of Neogaf show some screenshots which are allegedly from the cancelled game that Visceral Games in Melbourne were working on before shuttering. The poster describes the untitled game as "an online multiplayer shooter" while further claiming that the game wouldn't have made the necessary impact it needed if it were released for the current generation of consoles. From Neogaf...

"The whole gameplay mechanic is just nothing new. While it's not your typical FPS shooter, it's nothing that can sell too well this late in the generation."

An unnamed source confirmed to Kotaku AU last month when news broke out that Visceral Games Melbourne were shutting down that they had been working on a AAA title Xbox 360 and PS3 game for the last three years. It was decided unprofitable by EA's Games Label Vice President, Patrick Soderland, who pulled the plug on the project and the studio.

Under the direction of industry vets, we were actually working on a pony MMO. We also had some very solid experience in flight titles, with lots of ex transmission staff on board, so you could also obtain flying horses.

Unfortunately, it was deemed that a turn based MMO pony strategy / flight game was a bit niche for our target platform of the Casio PB-2000.

Well that was your problem. You should have targetted the N-Gage.

You'd better believe it. We had a particle editor just for sparkles, called Sparkle Motion.

That was problem though - we only had one sparkle.
If we had of called it 'Sparkles Motion'... well - who knows where we'd be...

20-20 hindsight, there.

It's next last gen, you only get one Sparkle.
