Halfbrick acquires Onan Games for cross-platform technologies

For an undisclosed price, Brisbane's Halfbrick Studios has acquired Onan Games, a Spanish based company that specialises in game porting services and licensing their own technologies such as:

- Mandreel, cross-platform game port from one C++ code base to iOS (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch), Android, Flash, and HTML5
- Virtualization technology, bringing games written on old platforms (e.g Sega Dreamcast, NeoGeo, Capcom System 1/2/3) to new platforms.
- Online multiplayer technology, for easy integration of online functionality to games that originally did not support it.

Mandreel clients have included Rubicon Development, Glu, as well as Halfbrick, who have used it to repackage mobile games for the Chrome web store. From Mandreel's client testimonial page...

(Jason Harwood, Halfbrick Producer) We have had the pleasure of working with Onan Games on the porting of Monster Dash to the Chrome Web Store using Mandreel. Miguel and his team have been amazing to work with. We were able to ship on time and on budget to a platform that we had very minimal exposure to.

Porting C++ code to HTML5 has never been simpler. I could not recommend Onan Games highly enough and Halfbrick Studios looks forward to working with Onan Games again inquote open the near future.

On the acquisition, Halfbrick CEO Shainiel Deo sung praise for what Onan Games has been able to achieve, and plans some big things for Halfbrick with the new technology Onan created...

Onan has created something that is incredibly powerful in such a fast-paced industry. It’s our goal to maximize reach and bring our games to new fans, and we welcome Onan into the Halfbrick family know that they will help us achieve exactly that.
