SanDisk has announced a special edition caliber of memory for the Nintendo Wii, which will be made available in December for Australia. The white Wii memory cards will be shipped in 512MB, 1GB and 2GB sizes. The cards will be able to hold all the necessary stuff – saved games, downloaded content, movie files, photos, music, etc – meaning you can store much of your Wii data externally, and still be able to access your pictures or music with portable ease.

Anthony Hetrih over at IGN.au has just posted a wrap-up of the eGames & Entertainment Expo that took place over the weekend (well, Friday too) in Melbourne. The article is largely positive, but naturally some concerns were raised about the number of local developers that were in attendance (or not, as the case may be). Can events like Game1 and eGames & Entertainment be successful in Australia? Should local developers support them more? Are they being promoted enough? Have your say in…
  • Although I don't make a big habit of watching anything news related that the Fox channel broadcasts, I've seen enough of Bill O'Reilly's work to know that he's a bit of a nut (to put it politely). Bill is well accustomed at causing controversy over many, many political and social issues, but the latest has been an extraordinary attack on consoles (particularly the Playstation 3 launch), games, the people who play them, and even the humble Ipod. From his radio broadcast... In the past to flee…
  • The results for the Sumea Modeller Challenge # 8 (The Exploding Fist challenge!) are in!! Congratulations to everyone who took part in our annual competition! There was a fantastic selection of entries this year, and at was exciting and an inspiration following all of your progress in the Sumea forum. A huge thanks must go to Micro Forte and Pandemic Studios on their support for the challenge with prizes, and also to the judges who spared some time in their busy schedules to rank and comment…

A word of warning for those planning on picking up a Wii when it launches here: be careful! People are finding that Wii Sports, excited gamers and wrist straps that aren't as strong as they should be are a potentially ugly - and expensive - combination. One poor fellow over at Something Awful managed to shatter his 60 inch rear projection television. Ouch.

PALGN has given a comprehensive preview of the action-packed MMORPG Fury, set to hit the market in '07. Having gotten their hands on a build only a few months old at the eGames 06 expo, the impression of the graphics, combat, gameplay and replayability seem high! Fury is being developed by Australia's own Auran and is taking a fresh approach on the MMORPG market, by making a game which is entirely geared towards bringing a PvP oriented massively multiplayer game. The class system is unique, and…

As you probably know already, the PlayStation 3 and Wii have just launched in the US. Australian IT reports that: One man (at the PS3 launch) was shot in a robbery attempt while waiting with 15 to 20 people outside a Connecticut Wal-Mart shop. He was shot after refusing to hand over money to two armed men. He was in serious condition at a Massachusetts hospital, police said. In other news, the Wii launch was far less violent, with Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime dropping into a…

Sega announced that a 'special limited edition' for The Creative Assembly’s Medieval II: Total War will be made available to the United States, the bundle including a map of the game world and the game's soundtrack. Thanks to Sega and THQ, it looks like Australian gamers are going to be getting a 'special limited addition' of our own. And guess what? Ours is better. In the locally distributed special limited edition, Australian gamers will receive the following in their bundle: -A '…
