  • Make sure you buy a copy of Digital Media World (July 2002) at your newsagents if you want to read an interview with Chris Mosely, Managing Director of Blue Tongue, about game developing issues and their current Jurassic Park title!
  • Slashdot has a nice link to an article that follows the last 17 years of this influential and addictive puzzle game. Who knew it had such a chaotic history! Who had the rights to publish the game? Mirrorsoft? Tengen ? Nintendo? Atari?.. it seemed like a huge intellectual property mess. I'm just thankful I got to play it 16 or 17 years ago on the C64. Here's a link to some screenshots and info on the guys who worked on the C64 version, and here's the link to the history of Tetris article! And if…
  • This release just fixes some bugs with the record AVI. I've also added 2 new plugins. Here is what's new: Fixed: "Record AVI..." sometimes failed to record. Fixed: "Record AVI..." didn't add a .avi extension, when it was missing. Fixed: "Take Screenshot..." didn't add a .bmp extension, when it was missing. Fixed: Unreal Engine PSK exporter didn't show up in the export menu. Added: Kratisto's UnMDL Half-Life decompiler plugin tool. Added: Bermshot's Ghoul2 .glm importer (can be used for JK2,…

  • AustralianIT has an article on how well Warcraft III is selling in Australia. "retailers had sold 11,641 copies of fantasy adventure game Warcraft III in the first five days after launch. That meant the PC game, which cost about $108 per copy, raked in more than $1.26 million at retail." .. and some interesting statistics on the console front.. "Meanwhile, Sony continues to win the battle of the consoles. The PS2 - still riding high on its recent price drop from $499 to $399 - sold 8999 units…
  • I did check the Auran Trainz website yesterday, but it was down. I should've known that Trainz sp3 was finally released (after a week long delay), and all the train 'nutters were overwhelming their servers downloading it! "Trainz Service Pack 3 has arrived and is now ready for boarding. This service (pack) will take you to new heights, at greater speeds and allow you to experience Trainz in a whole new way with new content, SCENARIOS and layouts." Uninformed train 'nutters please go here.
  • Salon has an article about a subject matter that I'm interested in, which is the amount of MMORGs in the market. It makes a startling claim. "Most of these games will fail for several prosaic reasons -- not the least of which is an unavoidable fact of life: The hardcore gamers who make these games successful can usually obsess over only one game at a time. There are only so many hours in a week, after all, and MMORPGs are nothing if not massively time-consuming." Read the article over at Salon…
