Responsibilities

The team in our Brisbane studio are growing and we are seeking a talented programmer to join us in the role of Build/Online Services Programmer.

Your new role will have you responsible for the day to day support of the game creation process and code compilation and integration, improving builds performance and supporting QA with automating testing and game publishing tasks. This role will also have cross functionality to support the Release and Live Operations support teams.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of source control management and tools (SVN, GIT)
• Solid Python and Lua scripting experience
• Solid shell scripting experience (powershell, bash, cmd)
• Experience with Continuous Build, Integration, and Delivery (Jenkins)
• Experience with tool chains such as Microsoft Visual Studio, Xcode, CLANG, GCC for building applications targeting Windows, iOS and Android; build systems such as make, premake, jam
• Personality features: a proactive attitude towards helping others to get their work done faster and more efficient
• Attention to detail
• Strong verbal and written communications skills

Bonus Skills

• C++ and C# experience is a big plus, but not essential
• Interest in good code practices
• Experience in academic projects, own personal projects or professional experience as a programmer
• Experience on production teams making games for mobile or consoles and PC/Mac

The Role

The role is centered around the multi-platform game Infinity Wars and ensuring the best possible level of quality for our players. Successful applicants will be required to report, diagnose and offer basic technical council on errors found in Infinity Wars. They will report directly to senior programming staff. 2 positions are available and will each be a 3-month contract with a view to a full-time position after that point.

What is Expected

Applicants should have a sound programming knowledge and a tertiary qualification, preferably in programming. A passion for games and the gaming industry is an absolute must. The applicant must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal direction. Games industry experience is not required for this role.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Diagnose and report errors in Infinity Wars
  • Log and manage errors through the Mantis Bug Tracker system
  • Document and analyse public feedback
  • Liaise with support and community management staff to identify issues
  • Ensure updates are free of errors prior to public launch
  • Utilize the Unity platform and C# to fix in-game bugs

QA Programmer

The QA Programmer will be responsible for developing and maintain various tools used by the Quality Assurance team. This includes the auto build system for all projects. This will involve the creation and maintenance of scripts, macros, build reports and the maintenance of required build applications and development tools (e.g. SDKs, compilers, exporters, level editors etc). This role will also involve the maintenance of the bug and task database application and associated scripts. This position will report directly to the Lead QA Tester.

Position:-

- Development of QA related tools (Some tools may be used across both Australian sites)
- Maintain the auto build system including updates to SDKs and other development tools, implementation of additional functionality requested by the QA Manager and Project Manager.
- Maintain the bug tracking system and scripts including the implementation of additional functionality requested by the QA Manager
- Maintain the tasks tracking system and scripts including the implementation of additional functionality requested by the project managers.
- Support testing staff
- Clear and concise communication of all issues

Requirements:-

- Enthusiasm and knowledge of video games in general

Game Systems Programmer

Job Role:

Technical Artist
The Technical Artist is responsible for ensure efficiency of the art pipeline and non-game-specific documentation and providing technical and art support to teams where appropriate. This position will report directly to the Lead Artist.

  • Constructing bone rigs and painting skins for existing models

The Junior Game Designer will be primarily responsible for coordinating, facilitating and documenting the game design process for use in Trainz and related products by acting in a creative, editorial and administrative capacity with regards to design documents and peripheral materials.
