weird HLSL viewport shader error

Submitted by Makk on
Forum

For some reason some shaders, like Styles series of shaders and most of Ben Clowards HLSL shaders wont show up in my viewport. Instead this is what happens...

I can get Clowards simlple normal map shader to work but none of the others do [|)]

Ive got a Geforce 4 4400ti with MAX7 and DX 9 installed..

The red wireframe is max's "I can't render" error.
The cause is going to be your card doesn't support the pixel/vertex shader versions that are being used. I'm really not up on hardware capabilities or tech specs, but it may just be you need a gf fx and up to handle pixel shader 2.x and onwards.

Im pretty sure you will need a 5200 card or highter to run pixel shader 2.x. Anything under that won't do it for you.
