wow, nice concept dude
thats a hip chic, reminds me of a character
from star ocean 3, good work!

Submitted by Neffy on Mon, 05/06/06 - 7:30 PM Permalink

Thankyou :) i did a quick google on star ocean 3 and i think i found the character your refering too, the colours are very similar and i can see the resemblance. Outfits are different though :)

Wont be able to update much till i go back to school and get some more critiqe on this outfit. Working on a weapon, im unsure of what to give her a katana, Fist weapon or some sort of nun chucks.

Any ideas or suggestions.

Not sure about the boots, did very similar pair once and nobody liked them. I guess they look better on your character though.[;)]

I think she certainly lends herself to some cool Tonfas (like police batons) or even just beef up the spikes on her boots and have her a kicking character like the maids with blades on their boots in soul calibur.

Looks cool, looking forward to it.

The nunchucks work well since it looks like you've got a good grip on posing with them -- as long as you can keep that dynamic feel to it, the nunchucks would rock.

Submitted by XY01 on Wed, 07/06/06 - 9:13 AM Permalink

I also vote 1 nunchucks, they are a bit more original plus the best ninja turtle has them.

Submitted by skripturez on Wed, 07/06/06 - 11:18 PM Permalink

nunchucks for sure... definately suit the design, as for dual chucks... maybe holding one pair and the other pair stashed on her somewhere waiting for that devastaing dual nunchuck ultra hyper mega attack :P
really dig the design by the way!

Submitted by MoonUnit on Thu, 08/06/06 - 10:40 PM Permalink

the 'chucks do feel a little less over-used then a katana. and as JI said, its all about that dynamic feel

Submitted by Bunny on Fri, 09/06/06 - 2:03 AM Permalink

She does look like a chuks kinda girl. You could work some neat holsters into or under the armour plates on her legs.

Submitted by Neffy on Sat, 10/06/06 - 11:36 PM Permalink

Well ive started some basic modeling, its not that fantastic yet im trying to look up referances and stuff as i go to get it right.

so yea please keep in mind this is a WIP >.< no making fun of her ok

Thanks so much for the advice ill definetly put it to good use, it looks so much better in the image you made. Been pulling my hair out for a few days trying to figure out what was making it look wrong.

You know, the body and sense of weight and proportion youve got going on here is not that bad, dont be so hard on yourself. the silhoette is pretty good just watch for pure 90 extrusions as they will give you a bit of grief when you normal map your model.

The face is the area that needs the most work to me - Eyes are the windows to any person soul so giving them really good shape will make a dramatic difference to her persona - dont be afraid to find reference and use it, in fact I'd encourage you greatly to find some pics of anime styled 3d game characters and put them next to yours so you can play 'spot the difference'. Its something I do alot when modelling.

Hope that helps some - keep at it [:)]

Woah big long time since my last update. Mostly cause ive been spending my time tweaking little tiny things that dont deserve a whole new post :P
So here is my almost complete low poly mesh. i say almost complete cause i thought it was good then i seen a few things i need to tweak when i rendered it just now haha :P

6000 polys exactly.
[IMG]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v105/Nefquareiel/skylightviews.jpg[/I…]
skylight makes me feel happier inside :(

probably not the neatest mesh in the world.

Submitted by Neffy on Sun, 16/07/06 - 12:16 AM Permalink

also how do i get a pretty avatar for these forums .. i go to profile and it just has a none option in the avatar section ... which when i click on it does nothing :(

Submitted by Johnn on Sun, 16/07/06 - 1:54 AM Permalink

heavy boots? (she's leaning back a long way!)
Now I have seen it without colour, I am thinking the black body-suit is maybe an unnecessary addition to the design(?) anyways, progressing well, all up the model looks good to me. Looking forward to seeing how the texturing and hi-poly stuff progresses

Submitted by caseyjones on Sun, 16/07/06 - 9:40 PM Permalink

Your model has come out looking really nice Neffy, but my only real crit would be that with comparing your concept to the model. The concept looked a little more slender or perhaps taller. Your character's hips and butt are no where near as wide as they are in the model. She gained weight!
Don't get me wrong, you may have decided to change the proportions in the modelling stages but it was the thing that stuck out the most with me.

This is looking really cool. The first time I saw your concept, I thought I could see so much of the Fable main character in it, but now seeing the style you've brought to it in your modelling skill, it's definitely taken on a distinct characteristic of its own.

Good work!

Thankyou for the positive replies everyone

John: I guess big spikes on your shoes are really heavy, I might rotate her a tad bit forward to try and fix that. As for the body suit, it?s my favorite part of the design so I don?t know if I could bring my self to get rid of it.

Casey: Unfortunately I cant convey much realism in my concepts and my models always look different, I just cant draw how I want them to look. In the end it just ends up being a combination of styles depending on my mood or the stock images I view I can?t control it, it just happens and then that?s how it is. Thanks for the avatar solution I swear I looked at that post at one stage.

Savarn: I always try to add my own flavor and style to my art, so I?m glad to hear I?ve achieved that in the end. However I?m a bit baffled as to how my modern Japanese assassin chick looks like a medieval fantasy British man with a huge sword. The Fable art was drawn in an anime style so I guess it holds similarity there, its actually a compliment to hear that my scribbly attempts at anime is comparable to such fantastic professional work like Fable.

Submitted by Savarn on Sun, 16/07/06 - 11:32 PM Permalink

I think it was just the build of the gloves shoes, the way the pants go out at the bottom and the way the sleeves are rolled up that reminded me of some of the models (not concept art for fable), but not that much looking back at it. It was just a passing feeling I got from your first concept piece.

Sorry I thought I'd better add that it's definitely NOT in any bad way that it reminded me of it, I think you've got a truely original design, my passing glace may have just been that if you've played fable that maybe you take a little influence in your art style from such games, something that I sometimes try and produce intentionally when I've tried to come up with designs for my Graphic Design work when a client wants it to look a "certain way" while still keeping some originality.

Submitted by GuyBrave on Sat, 29/07/06 - 10:39 AM Permalink

that certainly is looking a lot sweeter than last time I saw it........ although I have to second the suggestion that she looks pretty good without the black body suit (based on the untextured gray render you've got there)

Submitted by Neffy on Sun, 30/07/06 - 3:30 AM Permalink
