Is anyone going to the AGDC 2002 ?

  • In my first and previous post in this game dev log entry, I had written that I wanted to do a game which was a collection of simple retro games. Unity released a new major release (2019.3) while I was putting the initial project together, and I…

  • Well, I'm making a game . I'm spending the next few weeks on making a small game to showcase the gamedev log feature on tsumea where any member can create a game entry and other members can post journal posts with art, music or just development…

Hey Pete, did you have any luck with finding a job after the dip II? I did the Cert IV last year (Thom Magills class) so I saw a fair bit of the Motifera work. Played a bit of counterstrike too (GreyFox and DragonTriad monikers).

Love the 3d stuff on your site.

Was wondering if you could tell me how many of the Motifera team landed work after the course?

Cheers

Maybe we should do a definite roll call. Please list your name and AGDC attendance plan. Does anyone know if the $143 dinner is worth it?

I wonder who they've got to replace him, Abrash? Carmack?, well maygbe I'm dreaming a bit there.

Submitted by souri on Mon, 18/11/02 - 5:29 AM Permalink

John Romero's details were removed on the main page and from the schedule list also (there's a speaker TBA in the spot where he was scheduled now), so it looks like he's definately not coming...

There's something useful from TAFE!

Maybe there should some some sort of Sumea meet!

Looking at the schedule I would guess Saturday or Sunday.

As for where! ACK! I've only been in Melbourne for 5 years and I don't spend much time in the city itself. So ideas for where would work, too :) Southbank and Crown are nearby...

I'll be there, barring any unforseen bus accidents... most of the AIE guys will be at the Enterprize AFAIK, and I'll be tagging along with them. The Sumea get together isn't a bad idea but I'd suggest keeping it close to the hotels and conference centre, easier to meet and get around. I'm far too broke to go far beyond walking distance. There are heaps of places around there, hell, the casino is just over the bridge.

I'm not sure which day would be best, given the big party is Friday night and most devs will be at the dinner on Saturday. Maybe lunch would be a better idea?

BTW, Strkeagle might be good behind a sniper rifle but up close he's meat just like everyone else to my 133+ skillz. I seem to recall kicking as much as I was kicked. :p

Submitted by Jacana on Wed, 04/12/02 - 7:48 AM Permalink

I sent out a few emails through the forum, and yes, seems most people are busy both nights with dinners.
Unless people are heading home on Sunday I thought that might be the best day to get together - maybe a dinner and/or after dinner.

Casino and Southbank are close and should work well!

Feel free to email me (see post above) if you didn't get an email but want to get together.

Theres a reeeeally nice pub in collins st called the charles dickens. It'd probably be packed out friday and saturday, but sudnay night it would probably be a nice little quiet place :)
They have a very wide range of beer on offer, and if i remember correctly they also have guiness on tap.
They have a huge screen TV too, depending on the time it's usually playing sports but sometimes they have things like Red Dwarf on there haha.
