Dr. Jeff Brand, author of the recent Interactive Australia 2007 report, has had a chat to Gamespot recently, to talk about his thoughts on the future of Aussie gaming.
There’s some interesting takes on what the future holds in here, and it’s well worth the read. When asked on what he thought the most important ‘finding’ of the report was, Dr. Brand said the following:
I think the highlight is that gaming is now mainstream. The old myth that games are a…
Or, should I say, a lack thereof. It was reported last week that Blitz, an MA title for the Xbox 360 to be released on the 22nd of February, was banned in Australia. IGN has reported that Managing Director of Red Ant, Julian White, made some comments regarding the Australian ratings system:

New Zealand developer Sidhe Interactive's racing-puzzle title, Gripshift has been reviewed by the folks over at Eurogamer, and by the look of that impressive 8/10 final rating, it seems like the new PS3 title has successfully wowed them.
Apart from a couple of glitches, and the lack of a map-editor component which they’re hoping gets a later implementation, the overall view of the game is that of a solid title, worthy of Sidhe's popular racing series. I quote from the review:
There…
Second Life is a big thing; a massively multiplayer realm where almost anything is possible. It’s very much an easy step to make a virtual business, and indeed, many profit off their dealings in this ‘SL Universe’. What’s more than that, it also seems like the big companies are getting involved. The newest to join the fold? The Sydney Morning Herald reports that Aussie interactive TV provider Two Way TV Australia will soon be making the push into the…
Straight out of Kotaku comes this bit of nifty news about the local release for the Xbox 360 HD-DVD player peripheral. Kotaku reports that the add-on is coming to Australia on March 29 for $249 and is being bundled with King Kong, just like it was overseas.
Also reported is that there will be 40 movie titles available at launch, a few of which are bound to tickle your fancy. So if you want a relatively cheap alternative to leap into the "high definition future" that Microsoft has touted all…
