Of course, the sensible thing would be to use an existing game engine, but after a certain point, there is some curiosity if learning and fighting yet another game engine is really quicker that just writing something from scratch.
This is a painting of the Forest Temple from the iconic Nintendo 64 game, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. I made sure to keep the design close to what it was in the game and used a screenshot of the original temple as reference and painted over it.
Here's some character art of a rock elementalist. Initial designs had the flower more 'welcoming' but I changed it to be thorny and sickly to reflect the character.
This is a personal project created as a way to practice environment paintings and a look into how light works. I tried to use contrast so the viewers eye would be directed towards the dragon.
