While might not be getting the PlayStation 3 for a while longer, Sony have announced some pretty serious plans to keep promoting the PlayStation 2. Indeed, EB Games expect that the aging console will outsell both the Wii and Xbox 360 over the Christmas period. Sony believes that titles like SingStar, Buzz, EyeToy and Guitar Hero - as well as a RRP below $200 - will continue to attract casual gamers to the system for many months to come.

Australian author, comedian and - as it appears - World of Warcraft player Wendy Harmer has penned an essay on the potential benefits of everyone in the household enjoying the odd sport of online gaming. She believes that young children can pick up a lot of skills - from the social variety to the more practical - through virtual play. The Age has fired off an article on David Giles, ex Beam Software producer and current Tantalus manager. David proves that not only can casual gaming lead to a fulfilling career, but also show the dedication (perhaps even tolerance) of those we care of most: "I would just disappear into it all day. My partner, who had a full-time job and was supporting me because I was only working part-time, would come home and ask how much I had written today and I'd say 'Well, I found this crystal sword'."

Vooks.net caught RedTribe’s CEO and veteran Game Developer Chris Mosely for a chat about the upcoming Wii titles that RedTribe has in development, and to talk a little about what it’s like to work with the next-gen consoles. Chris had the following to say about working with the Wii: The Wii has been a dream to work with so far. We were all very surprised given how early it is in the development cycle. Unfortunately I’m under a very strict NDA with Nintendo and…

The ATO has every intention of taxing those who make real money by selling items, farming gold and so in MMOs such as Second Life and World of Warcraft. A spokesperson told the Sydney Morning Herald that 'if you are getting a monetary benefit then it's not treated any differently - normal rules apply. Your income will not be treated any differently than if you earned it working nine to five in an office.'
