Background

After our recent successful launch on Oculus Quest, we’re looking to grow the team! We need a passionate Gameplay Programmer to help us spearhead new gameplay features, help improve our current ones, and make improvements to all the user-facing aspects of the game. Our game already captivates hundreds of thousands of players, but with your help we can reach millions!

Team/Company

Alta is a VR video game studio based in Sydney, Australia, and is the developer behind A Township Tale: the leading VR MMO in the industry. We’re a small team of fiercely passionate developers, and we’re looking for more team members to help us build great adventures for our players. At Alta, each team member wears multiple hats and is committed to our overall mission in developing a ground-breaking VR experience for players worldwide.

We are also now fully remote and have several team members in different time zones, so living in the greater Sydney area is not required.

The Role

As a Gameplay Programmer, you will be working closely with the design team to iterate on new and existing gameplay features. This will span all aspects of Unity development, from writing gameplay logic to creating editor tools. We’re looking for someone who can help us build incredible features that our users will fall in love with. A Township Tale is a deep game with many systems like combat, crafting, exploration, and many others: and as a gameplay programmer you’ll be the one helping us build what our players do next. You’ll spend your days building new features with design, adding new systems to the game, and helping us chart the future for where our players will go.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of professional Unity Experience
  • Have shipped multiple games
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong C# Knowledge
  • Experience working with multiplayer game systems, specially client / server scenarios
  • Solid Maths foundation
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills to discuss requirements, deliverables, and timelines with non-technical stakeholders

Bonus Points

  • Ability to write shaders
  • Experience with optimization of 3D projects for mobile or VR
  • Experience developing VR games / experiences
  • Experience creating custom Unity Editor tools

If you’re looking for a studio that’s growing, has a hit game, but is still small enough where your work will have a direct impact, then Alta is the place for you. We’re incredibly excited about the future of A Township Tale, and would love to have you join us.
