Develop 100 ranks the world's games development studios based on the revenues their products made at retail in the UK, and the latest update has two Australian studios making the list. It's the best result we've had so far as a nation in the Develop 100, however, it's rather unfortunate that one of the studios has since closed down.
Krome Studios made an appearance in the Develop 100 list back in 2007, just breaking in a #94. With combined 7 million pounds worth of sales from Transformers:…
A recent game interface job I completed for an Adelaide based iphone/mobile developer. Final graphics included animation on the handkerchief as the rope moves and animated icons on the menu screen. Graphics are all based on photos then heavily edited in Photoshop.
Move over, Firemint and Halfbrick Studios, there's another local developer hitting it big on the appstore. On a technical/hardware note, this was the first painting I have undertaken largely on my…
Playstation Lifestyle goes indepth with Krome Studios Co-Founder, Creative Director, and creator of Blade Kitten, Steve Stamatiadis on the Blade Kitten game currently in development for the Playstation store. The questions at hand include why they've chosen the Playstation platform for their first DLC title, as well as the many design decisions behind the comic to game adaptation.
It looks like Krome Studios is set on the Blade Kiten IP, with plans on bringing more Blade Kitten episodes and…
IGN AU has an editorial on the ongoing downsizing of the Australian games industry, brought upon the recent round of lay-offs from Krome Studios late last month. They cover the high profile closures of Pandemic Studios Brisbane and Auran, particularly focussing on Auran's Fury's failure to spark interest in the MMOG market.
Of course, the uptake of having many professional game developers let go means that some have taken a chance in the casual and social gaming market on their own, however…
