  • I was hoping to post about this news last week, but my main source for the information, Actiontrip.com, keeps timing out for some reason. What I should've done was search elsewhere instead of waiting for it to come back up. But I digress... Last week, a whole batch of new screenshots was released for Hellboy: Science of Evil, the current-gen action game in development at Krome Studios. It's been a while since we've seen the last batch of shots of the game, and while they looked nice then, they…

  • As some of you may have been aware, on Friday Attorney Generals from each state met in South Australia to discuss, among other things, the R18+ classification for games. The result of the meeting was an agreement to canvas public opinion on the proposed introduction of the R18+ rating for games. The Deputy Premier and Attorney-General Rob Hulls was positive about the agreement to consult on whether the R18+ classification should be introduced to the National Classification Scheme. It seems…

  • Paul Robertson, Melbourne pixel artist extraordinaire, has finally released the "Kings of Power 4 Billion %" animation at his livejournal blog. He's been quite a busy guy since the release of his first big hit, Pirate Baby's Cabana Battle Street Fight 2006, and if you've never seen any of his work, it's a great movie to start on... He's gone off to do a music clip for Architecture in Helsinki and tv commercials (amongst other things), but if you want to see the latest bit of his crazy pixel…
  • There's a fantastic post mortem of Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords up at Gamasutra which gives some great insights into the development back story of the RPG puzzler by Melbourne's Infinite Interactive. As with all great post mortems, it starts off with the initial idea of the game, and goes through to describes the pitching issues and selling of the game. And in the process, it reveals all the nitty gritty problems encountered and concludes with some valubale lessons to improve future…
