  • Last year at the 2011 Game Developer Conference, Game Audio Australia's Mick Gordon tried something quite unusual. He approached fellow conference attendees to make any sound they wished into a microphone which he recorded. Some grunted, whilst others moaned or screamed. These sounds were collected and used to create a track called "Voices of Devs" which is unlike any heard before. Every sound in the song is created from human voices... (Mick Gordon) Absolutely everything you hear in this track…

The first, guaranteed phase of the contract would be to evaluate the code and give an estimate of the time it would take for a programmer to expand on the project and add more mini-apps to the game system platform. I reckon this phase would take several full-time days or more. This may result in a second, long-term phase in which the same person would actually…

  • Melbourne indie developers, Walk Through the Clock, have laid down the smack on fellow Melbourne-based games developers, Kumobius. After a highly successful thread on Reddit with nearly a thousand 'upvotes' to promote their two-year-in-development platformer game, Beans Quest, Kumobious has been challenged by Walk Through the Clock for a bout of VIOLENT ARMED COMBAT. You see, Walk Through the Clock have finished their own indie game, the very polished Call Connect, however it didn't receive…
  • The Academy of Interactive Entertainment (AIE) launched their games business incubator program to turn games development students into entrepreneurs late last year, and if there's any proof that they're taking things seriously, the AIE have flown their incubator students to the Games Developers' Conference (GDC) to experience the process of pitching their games and creating valuable industry contacts.
