Hellboy fan-made project. I focused on creating a game-ready character with an emphasis on anatomy, material definition, and clean topology.
  • Cnet has a rundown on the top locally developed games to look out for in 2009. They've done an awesome job on listing the titles currently in the works from the major studios here, including some that haven't been made official quite yet, but are well known to be in development. The article is a bit incorrect with their paragraph on Pandemic Studios Brisbane, but otherwise, it's a great list with some great titles and companies mentioned there.
  • Since we're a bit starved of Team Bondi news, I'm more than willing to post anything that contains something new about the secretive Sydney development studio! Developmag has posted a brief news item about Lightsprint, the Global illumination solution, being integrated into Gamebryo. Not very exciting news, really. At the end, however, Team Bondi is mentioned as a licensee of the technology. Is L.A Noire using light baked illumination for their City of Angels? No idea, but I do know that Kaos…

The Front Line Awards, which aims to give recognition to the tools that developers use to assist in their work, has been established for over a decade and is voted upon by the Game Developer magazine and Gamasutra reader polls. • It's become a tradition to unearth the "unofficial" post-mortem of sorts after the demise of a game studio as ex-employees frustratingly leak out all the unflattering details of the last title they worked on before they were let go. It happened when Perception, Ratbag, and Auran went downhill, and it looks like Pandemic Studios Brisbane is no exception. Some of the details to surface after EA let go of Pandemic Studios Brisbane seems almost unbelievable considering the calibre of skilled staff…
  • Sidhe's Griffiths discusses in depth how the GripShift developer playtested, and then took that feedback to improve, their Wii version of the recent Speed Racer game, from Wiimote tweaks to difficulty changes.
  • Just in time for the official opening of the Big Ant Studios offices that happened in Brisbane today, iTwire have published a story on the Melbourne based studio and their expansion north. The article provides the reasons on why Big Ant chose the area for their new office, what capacity the new studio will cater, and also their plans on offering programs for students... CEO and founder Ross Symons said the company had chosen the Innovation Centre for its new studio because it was in a region…
  • Three Brisbane boys are forging a name for themselves in the international scene. They have created "Game Damage," a pilot television show that has been widely described as "The Top Gear of Gaming," with a blend of humour, natural chemistry, and industry insight. Videogames are big business, with major game releases beating cinema box office records by increasing margins. Media coverage of this growing industry has been dominated by the US, but three Australians are making a change, putting an…
