  • Details are very slim at the moment, but from very reliable sources comes the news that publishing giant, EA, have purchased one of Australia's (and arguably, one of the the world's) top mobile / handset game development companies, Melbourne-based IronMonkey Studios. IronMonkey Studios has a very strong relationship with EA games, having developed mobile versions of well known EA brands such as Medal of Honor, Need for Speed, and the Sims. Two of their recently released titles, Sims 3 and Need…
  • The West Australian and WA Business News reports that U.S based Interzone Games have locked down their lead development studio in Perth on Thursday. Ten of the remaining Interzone staff were picketing at the front of their former workplace in protest of unpaid wages and superannuation as far back as 18 months, after being locked out of the premises and left unable to retrieve personal belongings. Segments of a notice at the entry of the studio placed by Interzone Vice President of business…
  • We've had to pull down our news item on Interzone Games last Saturday as our tip off was just too early to report. The information provided then was premature for when it was posted, and Interzone staff members were right to respond that it didn't reflect the current situation at the Perth studio. The tip off was true, but things were set to happen only a short time later. The news we had at hand was that Interzone Games, the Perth game development studio, will be closing down sometime around…

  • Andrew Goulding is one of countless developers from the local games industry with years of experience under their belt who've made the huge career changing move towards independent games development. With so many taking the plunge in recent times, it was worth grabbing Andrew aside for a few questions on his new indie studio, Brawsome, his latest game, Jolly Rover, and his personal experience on going solo. It seems like hard work going at it in indie games, particularly with a young family…

  • KlickTock have just released their latest game for the iPhone/iPod touch, called Super Search 60! Super Search 60 is the follow up to their previous hidden object finding game, Little Things, and promises to be a much more frantic affair with a 60 second timer for each level. It also features Facebook integration and interesting in-game multiplyer managing mechanics. As you know, KlickTock is helmed by Matthew Hall, a game developer previously from Tantalus and Big Ant Studios, and now making…
  • I'm sure many visitors to tsumea have been following the progress that Chris Watts and Ben Britten have made with their neat little iPhone/iPod touch game, Mole. It's been an absolute pleasure reading Chris's journal on the various updates on Mole since we first heard of it back in August, last year, so it's great news to hear that it's finally finished and now up on the Apple Appstore! I've had a good go of it back in Game Connect 2009, and found it to be a fun and very polished game. Great…
