  • Well, here is the second concept for my character. Just a quick sketch to get my ideas down on paper.. I'm still not happy with her, so she will change again. I have changed the dogs to wear armour. The two next to her are her bodyguards, so they will don some heavy equipment. I will probably only end up modelling her and the two main dogs, I may paint the rest into the background? We'll see. For the girl, she now has "Scene" hair! I have added an armband to her with a few stripey tails…

  • pssst! Wanna see something pretty cool? tsumea wiki is back, and it's much beefier and cooler than it used to be! The new tsumea wiki is running on Mediawiki, so if you're used to using and editing pages on Wikipedia, you'll have no problems with this. We've got Google maps and Google street view sorted out (which provided more than a few headaches to get in), and I'll write a short tutorial for anyone wanting to enter the location details of their studio themselves later on, but it looks…
  • For those planning to import their copy of Fallout 3 to avoid the silly changes to meet our games classification, you need not bother anymore. It looks like Fallout 3 developer, Bethesda, want to bypass any more problems that other countries might have with the use of morphine in-game by having the edited Fallout 3 that passed Australia's OFLC scrutiny to be the version that is distributed around the world come October. Bethesda VP, Pete Hines, has told Edge magazine... "We want to make sure…
  • It goes rather slowly but- hey, no rush, I am doing it for pleasure (at least this time). Having UV mapping in place I can now make high res version for normal mapping. I've divided character to three maps (flesh, cloth and shiny bits) to make things easier later on, when entire thing will get into engine and now I am going to try combining sculpting with bump map and baking results to normal / AOC maps (since I've just recently learned how to do it in Blender I do not have to jump to any…

The Australian Fim insider offered advice for the local games industry to keep it stronger, leaner, and much more robust. From ITWire... "The problem with the games industry in this country," the insider said "is that it is full of many small studios that should be left on their own to see…

  • Gamasutra has finally got a post-mortem of BioShock, the FPS hit which was in part developed by 2K Australia. As usual with all post-mortems there, it's a great insight into the development scene behind projects, providing hindsights on what went right and wrong and what could have been done to better the process. The post-mortem also gives a greater understanding on how much the Australian team contributed to the blockbuster title. From Gamasutra... Initially, Australia was intended to supply…
