Overview:

Playside Studios are seeking talented 3D artists to join our team. In this role, the 3D artist will work closely with the art team and contribute high-quality assets, scenes, lighting and renders to projects. The 3D artist should be skilled in 3D modelling of game environments, props, and characters with the ability to adapt quickly and work across a broad range of art styles.

Primary Responsibilities:

Conversion and interpretation of 2D concepts into textured 3d models

To provide exceptional visual quality on your projects to create a fun and engaging experience

Identification and assistance in the creation of documentation (ADD etc) in projects you are tasked to.

To create efficient and performant assets to integrate with your titles, at predefined art budgets.

Ability to work on a technical level with all members of staff in all areas of expertise.

Working alongside the other Art team members in a professional manner. And providing thoughts on improvements to all projects studio-wide.

Liaise with Art Lead & producers within the scheduling phase of projects to ensure art implementation is within time/budget.

Providing mentorship and onboarding of junior members of the team.

Work with Art Lead to reinforce art style and to resolve stylistic questions.

Review progress of art team tasks and communicate potential issues to Art Lead and Producer.

To learn and improve your skills in all areas of your field

To create efficient and performant assets to integrate with your titles.

Constant research & interpretation of the latest trends in game art.

Improve workflow and efficiency by sharing experience and skill, both verbally and through presentations and/or documentation.

To help in reinforcing great teamwork and amazing studio culture.

Required Skills:

3+ Years of professional experience working within a game development or equivalent industry role.

Proven track record of shipped game titles.

Examples of exceptional art quality in prior work

Excellent verbal/written communication and problem-solving capabilities

Professional level of knowledge in Maya and Photoshop, with Zbrush and Substance suite a plus.

Deep understanding of both the game development process and working in Unity.

Ability to work on multiple projects at any given time with the ability to adapt quickly

Able to work in multiple artistic styles.

Motivated and self-driven; complete tasks without intense supervision.

Ability to work on multiple projects at any given time with the ability to adapt quickly

Strong technical understanding of current asset workflows, shaders, and engine capabilities.

Professional levels of high and low polygon modelling

An excellent eye for detail, shapes, proportions, composition, colours and lighting

Desired Skills:

Experience using the Substance Suite

Experience in developing your own shaders and VFX in real-time engines.

Shipped console or mobile titles
