Who do you want interviewed on Sumea?

Forum

As the title says, which local developer would you like to be interviewed on Sumea? Who are you interested in finding more about? I'll try and grab them for some 15 or so questions for the site...

Submitted by tbag on Tue, 22/06/04 - 11:08 PMPermalink

How about Blue Tongues CEO Steven Spagnolo?

I always wanted to learn more about Blue Tongue and their plans for the future aswell as why the name Blue Tongue was chosen etc...

I dont know about other people but i just want to see a staff member of Blue Tongue to be interviewed [:)].

Submitted by Daemin on Wed, 23/06/04 - 11:22 PMPermalink

It would be cool if you were able to get at least one highish level person from each company for a short interview for the site, we'd have like an encyclopedia of Australian game developers...

Submitted by tbag on Thu, 24/06/04 - 1:33 AMPermalink

Yeah. Hey how about you interview that Sumea owner guy called Souri? I hear he lives in a box and is drunk 90% of the time... [;)]

Anyway, any progress on some interviews? [:p]

Submitted by Barry Dahlberg on Thu, 24/06/04 - 7:49 AMPermalink

I'd like to see one of the NZ crews interviewed for something different...

:)

PS: Go black! Yay!

Submitted by souri on Thu, 24/06/04 - 2:46 PMPermalink

Chris Mosley was the founder of Blue Tongue, so he's probably the person to ask about the company name. He's steering another game developer though called Tribal Ant.

So yeh, an interview with someone from Blue Tongue, Mario Wynands from Sidhe Interactive.. anymore?

Submitted by Kane on Thu, 24/06/04 - 6:26 PMPermalink

How about one of the guys from TwoHeaded here in Tassie. I don't think they are up to much these days, but they worked at Beam back in it's day, so they could probably give an interesting interview...

Just a thought...

Submitted by Barry Dahlberg on Thu, 24/06/04 - 7:41 PMPermalink

Another NZ crew is Binary Star in Auckland, not sure if they'd be keen for an interview or not but that have an interesting projet going. Contacts are on their webpage http://www.binary-star.com/

Submitted by tbag on Fri, 25/06/04 - 1:58 AMPermalink

Yay i get to see an interview with the Blue Tongue founder!

Hey Souri, just wondering how do you manage to go about getting people for interviews? Do you just explain who are you are, your mission, what you provide to the community etc...? (Queer question i know, but worthy enough to be asked i would think.)

Submitted by souri on Fri, 25/06/04 - 2:25 AMPermalink

Well, they all know of Sumea and what it's all about, so I don't really need to explain much at all. I've done a fair bit of questioning for interviews from the agdc 2002 winners, to the art directors/leads for the portfolio article etc so I have had reasonable contact with a lot of developers. And then there're those who visit the site (but don't post much) [;)]

Two Headed - I didn't receive a response from them before, so I'm unsure if they'll even reply.
I'd love to do an article with Team Bondi as well. Brendan McNamara being the director of SCEE's The Getaway etc...

Redesigned Section pages

Forum

Just spent the last few days redesigning and rebuilding the section (modeller,mapper,2d artist, coder) pages. It should load a little bit faster too. There are a few niggles here and there, but I'll fix them later. The artwork for the mapper and modeller section isn't done yhet either, so I'll do that later as well. Anyway, check it out. http://www.sumea.com.au/section.asp?class=2dartist&type=3

Submitted by Wizenedoldman on Thu, 17/06/04 - 1:06 AMPermalink

Hey Souri, not sure if you know this but whenever the page loads up I get a runtime error saying

Line:0

error: Expected Identifier

But that's probably one of the nigglies you mentioned, looks good though.

Submitted by MoonUnit on Thu, 17/06/04 - 1:24 AMPermalink

niiice, is the whole website gonna be switching over to this red like theme or just that section?

Submitted by codyalday on Thu, 17/06/04 - 2:12 AMPermalink

I have to say that you should leave this design already, the new isn't that good as this one, also it is more hard to navigate then the other one. Good job though.

Submitted by inglis on Thu, 17/06/04 - 2:14 AMPermalink

change is good.

are you planning on putting the new design across all pages?

Submitted by Jacana on Thu, 17/06/04 - 3:13 AMPermalink

Just a note:

I think the coder section lists anyone from ACT as actually being from Tassie. I noticed I have an orange block next to my name. If you have to lump ACT in with some place can it not be Tassie ;)

Submitted by Kane on Thu, 17/06/04 - 3:34 AMPermalink

whats wrong with Tasmania? [;)]

two heads are better than one!

also, I am in Tassie, but the coder section has put me from Northern Territory...

Submitted by souri on Thu, 17/06/04 - 3:38 AMPermalink

Ok, I think I have it fixed now.

I reckon the new section pages looks much better than the old one. It compliments the design seen on the front page more. The old section pages with the scenery art could have been from another website [;)]. It's interesting to hear that you think it's much harder to navigate than the old one though.

Anyway, when I have time I'll be putting the red design on member profile pages and gallery pages, both of which are in need of a new look..

No Free mail thingy

I want to get a profile in the modeler section, so i can show work, but for email it says no free ones allowed like hotmail. Hotmail's the only one i got, so can i still sign up, and why is like that?

Submitted by MoonUnit on Mon, 07/06/04 - 7:28 AMPermalink

your family would have an isp email, ask your parents or whomever has it if you could use it just to sign up. Failing that do you have a school email?

Submitted by souri on Mon, 07/06/04 - 2:28 PMPermalink

I can make a concession for you to use a hotmail account - just let me know via the comments so I know you're Bullet21. Hotmail or other free web-based email accounts are disallowed because, well, you can register multiple accounts and abuse the service with the anonymity. If you have a legit email address, you're less likely to be an ass, and I can see if you're a local too.

I could've sworn I added you a few days ago.. anyway, you should be recceiving an email notification now.

Sumea Meets

Forum

Some of you may be aware of the gamedev meetups that occur each month (http://gamedev.meetup.com/). It seems to me that while these are a good start, a lot more could come out of something like this. IMHO we also need something more to sustain the considerable momentum from FreePlay for the independent developer community.

The problems I see with the gamedev meetup are:
* no scope for negotiating day/time (it is set at Tuesday 8pm, monthly)
* hard to communicate with other people via the site
* limited scope for negotiating venue

One can pay to join meetup plus, which partially solves the last two problems.

My suggestion is that instead of (or as an adjunct to), we:

* Create a "Sumea Meets" (or SumeaT like that :) forum under General
* Select an organiser for each city
* Have some discussion about when/where/what frequency would be most suitable for people in that city
* Get the organiser to arrange meets on the selected day
* Pimp the sumea meets with the limited discussion capabilities that meetup.com has

The advantages of this scheme, as I see them, are:
* create a greater sense of community around the meets
* centralise the community about sumea
* allow discussions and networking to take place following each meet without needing to exchange email addys etc

I'm interested to hear people's thoughts on the above, and also to get a show of hands for the level of interest in various cities.

Whatchareckon?

I'd be happy to organise the Melbourne ones if noone else wants to take this role.

Cheers,

Mark/CW

hope a little ray of light may be shed today

Submitted by Rosco on Wed, 12/05/04 - 8:28 PMPermalink

yeah...i had the same problem for a little while.
what i found out was, that it was a browser issue.
i had to use iexploder to solve it.

netscape also works.

Submitted by TyKeiL on Wed, 12/05/04 - 9:15 PMPermalink

hmm, im using linux here, and i thought mozilla wa netscape, or rather netscape is made using mozilla?

Submitted by souri on Wed, 12/05/04 - 9:34 PMPermalink

The upload function has been tested on IE and Mozilla only, and they work for both. I'm not sure if there is any other way to make it compatible (I remember looking into this ages ago since someone using Opera had the same problem). I've used the only examples available from the company that made the upload component.

Submitted by TyKeiL on Wed, 12/05/04 - 11:04 PMPermalink

ahh, ok, i thought you may have written the upload componenet yourself ;o) and be able to play with the internals of the system.

well it seems that the mozilla test was for an earlier version, as i said im using mozilla 1.6

any way of getting it done manually?

Just a quick note - check your firewall level is not too high - i had the same problem for a while but that fixed it.

i was at the calender page (http://www.sumea.com.au/scalendar.asp) and noticed that text to the left of the calender was disapearing behind it. The amount visible also differed on the size of the IE window. Just thought ud like to know

Submitted by souri on Mon, 10/05/04 - 11:51 PMPermalink

Yeh, I put that calendar in an iframe which is placed in an exact location, so it'll stay at that exact spot no matter what screen resolution/browser size. It looks normal at 1024x768 mode, but it'll probably look funny on other screen modes. WIll look into a more elegant solution later [:)]

btw, if anyone has sent me an email, press release, job ad or anything lately, I won't have time to respond until later in the week. I'm at an internet cafe, and I can't remember my darn password for email. Waiting for the phone connection at my new place.

nope, its cause this is a snitz forum

Submitted by souri on Mon, 10/05/04 - 11:28 PMPermalink

I've just put private messages up for the forum. You can send each other private messages now! At the moment it seems to be stuffing up the forum memberlist search (which I'll try and get fixed), but private messaging works! You get an inbox, you can set your preferences etc

Sumea Meet-Up Indie Conference

Depends on the time for thurs as I probably won't get to Melb until 8:30-9:00 (depends on traffic too!). Unless of course I put my good car back together in which case I could probably shave a half hour or so off of that. But I'll keep my rule-bending driving habits to myself!!!

The souri-meister and I had a quick discussion on IRC about this one a few months back - I think mexican ended up on top of our impromptu cuisine list.

Anyway, what kind of cost are people willing to spring for? (eg would $16-20 mains break the bank?) Any preferences for particular types of food? I'm happy to rustle up some suggestions for places with a little direction from the rest of y'all :)

The conference is actually spread out over 3 different venues, all close by. The CAE building has access via the goods lift at the back, it seems the one, possibly both the others, do not have access (still trying to confirm this with the organisers though).

WRT the legal thing - I believe all new public buildings must have access, but other than that, it's a matter of what is reasonable for an organisation to do.

Re: extra train - I'll see if I can find something closer. I found one in Lonsdale St, but it's Lonsdale St in Dandenong (only an hour by train :)

Submitted by CombatWombat on Sun, 09/05/04 - 7:47 PMPermalink

Lebanese food is excellent for vegetarians - lots of dips with bread, and the cheap eats singles out their falafels (= crushed chickpeas, garlic, mint, etc rolled into balls and shallow fried) as being "as good as you'll find in downtown Beirut". (There are ~50 restauraunts listed for the CBD, and this is one of about 10 of them that are listed as having a "V" for good variety of meat-free dishes).

I'm thinking I'll go do have to do some "research" on the food there [:D] For purely selfless academic purposes of course!

More Sumea website updates

Forum

Yes, some more boring website updates!
I've done a huge overhaul on the main page - it should load up a heck of a lot faster now (I can notice it easily - although there is a pause when the page loads up - it's due to an offsite script I've always used that tracks page hits and makes stats for me). Because of this, I've had to do some things to the members news - I've tested it as much as I could, but if you run into any unusual problems there, you have to let me know so I can fix it.

1. Ive noticed most of the work here sumbited is very low poly and optimized for games, does this have to be the case? i like to do some low poly modeling, but most of my work involves alot of dense scenes, used for impressive visuals for video productions etc, not so much opimized for games.

2.Ive also noticed all the work submited is complete work, and are just a few shots of the final product. Am i allowed to submit all my work i have done. Like say if have a few renders of some stuff i accidently made while playing around, and it turned out kinda good, but wasnt excaly a production peice of sorts.

3. Can i only sumbit work in groups of recent stuff i have made, or can i sumbit after every creation?

BTW, i am talking about works of finished 3d modeling. im not wanting to upload half finished models or anything. I relize the meaning of "showing off your work"

Submitted by souri on Thu, 29/04/04 - 10:46 PMPermalink

1. Any kind of modelling (high or low) is welcomed.

2. A general rule I guess for new members is to upload all your good work in one post, so they're grouped together. This prevents new members from taking over all the slots on the front page in one go.

Those kind of pieces are fine.

3. You can submit after every creation, but do be considerate of other members work as well. If you submit too many, you're pushing others work off the main page. If you have a lot of recent stuff to post (more than 2), please group them in one post.

Does Sumea have any kind of chat feature, or an IRC channel of some sort where members can chat in live time?

Asp Carriage Return help

Forum

Ok, I'm almost at my wits end here - I've searched everywhere for an answer but I can't find it. I'm working on a newsfeeder on Sumea so any website can grab news/jobs headers from this site. I've done all the hard stuff already (the headers are spat out in a text file and it's automated so this happens 3 times a day by itself etc)... but I'm stumped at this simple thing. I can't get a darn carriage return happening. None of these will give me a carriage return for example.

<%=chr(10)%>
<%=chr(13)%>
<%=chr(10) & chr(13)%>
<%=vbcrlf%>
<% response.write "Hello," & chr(10) & "Dolly" %>

I can't use
(it's for a txt file, not a html page.. Javascript is going to read the txt file), and the ascii equivalents of carriage return #13; and line feed #10; doesnt work either . Any ideas??

Submitted by Daemin on Mon, 26/04/04 - 9:54 PMPermalink

0x0d 13 '
' Carrige Return
0x0a 10 '
' Line Feed

In DOS/Windows you need a Carrige Return and then a Line Feed, so 0x0D then 0x0A. In Linux/Unix it's only a line feed, and on Apple/Mac it's only a Carrige Return...

But for ASP scripting I have no real idea, you could insert the character '
' or something, since that works in C & Co... ?

Submitted by souri on Mon, 26/04/04 - 10:52 PMPermalink

Yeh, <%=chr(13) & chr(10)%> is a carriage return and line feed.. Anyways, I figured out what the problem was. The carriage returns were in there, it's just with the way I was looking at them (printing the results on an asp page), you wouldnt see them. Saved the results as a txt file on the server, and the carriage returns were definately there.

Web cam portal?

Forum

Just an idea i had, ive seen many a site with a webcam portal and i thought it might be neat if sumea had one, even if it was just a sticky thread in the forums. For those of you who dont know what one is allow me to explain. It is not a links page for peoples webcams that they have pointlessly running while they are on their computer so we can all watch them pick their nose and click on things we cant see. What it is is a series of images with the owners names underneath that are taken with a digicam or webcam that people update as often as they would like. Basicly how it works is you fit out a wepage (or forum post) with the URLs for the pictures and when you want to update you need to load up a new picture to that same location under that same file name. This does mean people would need to use their own hostage unless souri felt like setting something more concrete up at sumea. People often put little bits of text in their pictures and so on. Its just a bit of fun and its good for some random crazyness. Thoughts?

Submitted by souri on Sun, 25/04/04 - 12:50 PMPermalink

I am all for random craziness, and it's easy enough to implement on Sumea.. pics could be uploaded in the admin section via a simple upload like the avatar uploads. Descriptions are no problem. It would probably be a good idea to restrict image shots to 640x480 or something like that..

Submitted by Kalescent on Sun, 25/04/04 - 8:40 PMPermalink

inglis - ROFL looking at your avatar and then reading that comment - i can just feel the sincerity!!

i think it would be good for a laugh

traditionally web cam portal images are 320x240 and dw, they dont have to be good quality :P (for those of us who dont have 6 megapixel digicams the size of postage stamps).

example site: http://www.inktank.com/cam/webcam.cfm

yes they are indeed crazy people, by the way if you dont know that site check out the angst technology comics, its about a fictionaly game developing company :D note: theres also a webcam FAQ link at the top of that page

oh and sorry if i put this topic in the wrong section (well i obviously did cause its been moved :P )

I'll have to get onto this sometime after the next update. I've been doing a website redesign and huge code overhaul for the section pages (modeller, mapper, coder etc), linkstation, sumea profile etc.. (I haven't forgotten about the ICQ, MSN etc details either).. anyway, those pages will run much faster, but it's a huge heap of work too.

Great competitive NT webhosts?

Forum

Can anyone recommend some great, local, cheap, reliable web hosts (Windows NT/ASP)? Seriously thinking about relocating Sumea due to all the downtime, server problems, hacking/defacing etc, and we have only a few months left on the current pan... plus, it looks like things have become a bit competitive out there in hosting land, so my current plan doesn't look so exciting any more.

Webcentral are a pretty trusted webhost provider...
Business 2004 plan - 250mb, 2gig transfer per month, PHP support, other trivial stuff, and great tech support. There's a "Deskcontrol intranet for your staff to collaborate and check their WebMail", so I might give the moderators here that service if they're interested. $665 per year + $97 set up fee.

Submitted by Stoffle on Tue, 13/04/04 - 8:50 PMPermalink

Checkout http://www.webaccess.com.au -- it's a blatant plug, I work there :). Basically we're in the middle of launching a new site, the prices will be lower and the servers will be in our own datacentre in Brisbane. (The current packages listed on the site are hosted in the US however -- the new site will be launched in around a fortnight). I'll see if I can get the new pricing ahead of time and email it to you.

Submitted by souri on Thu, 15/04/04 - 4:06 AMPermalink

Well that Best 100 deal is better than my current hosting plan, although I'm not sure if the site exceeds 5 gigs of bandwidth per month.. what's the policy on ASP components? Does Webaccess have any components available/charge for their use?

Submitted by Stoffle on Thu, 15/04/04 - 6:39 PMPermalink

There's no extra quarterly/yearly fee for ASP components, however I'm not sure if there's a setup fee (assuming we dont already have the component installed). I'm just waiting for one of the Windows server guys to get into the office and I'll find out for sure.

Are there any particular components you need? Also, what backend/DB does the site run on (mssql, access, mysql, etc)?

Submitted by redwyre on Fri, 16/04/04 - 4:41 AMPermalink

it looks like it supports asp as well as php, so you could probably use php for stuff like the image manipulation if you wanted

Submitted by souri on Sat, 17/04/04 - 3:32 AMPermalink

Yeh, I ask about the components fee (for the use of) since there are a few hosting companies that charge it. Their reasoning is that it causes an extra load on the server, or something like that. The components I need are SoftArtisans FileUp and Persits MailSender.. I'll be needing some free image manipulation (thumbnail) components like Redwyre mentioned..

The the amount of multimedia online, one would think MS would included these functionalities. In fact, one of my previous jobs was to write an ASP Com component to allow image minipulation/creation and file uploading for ASP pages. The company I was working for was tired of having to liceanse out such things from others.

PHP on the otherhand, sort of includes an image library. Having only used it a little bit, I'm not too impressed though, it's resizing function kind of sucks.

Just as a side note, with backbone pipes being so huge anymore, what about using a company outside Oz? Example, www.Site5.com has $10 a month (about $13AUD a month) you get 1gig disk space, 37GB bandwidth transfers. They have a high uptime and their support kicks butt :)

(I setup a site for my brother with these guys and it was a joy to do).

Submitted by souri on Mon, 19/04/04 - 1:28 AMPermalink

Wow, that sounds incredible [:)] With that kinda space, Sumea could offer to host independant game developer's demo's, member animations and other large files.. I'll annoy them through that chat applet for some more details..

Submitted by souri on Thu, 03/06/04 - 4:35 AMPermalink

Ok, it's getting close to changing host time, and I'm just getting started looking around. www.Site5.com is interesting, but it looks like they only offer php/msql/linux server plans..

Anyone have any recommendations (local or overseas), please post!

Submitted by souri on Tue, 22/06/04 - 10:38 AMPermalink

Sumea's going to be relocated to a U.S server in a few weeks, so things might get a little shaky around here. I'm pretty sure a lot of things are gonna break, and the site might even disappear for a while, but it should be back! The new plan will have 5 times more webspace, some new useful components (uploading images will be so much easier), and a whole lotta other useful stuff for a site admin like myself...

Submitted by souri on Thu, 24/06/04 - 5:26 PMPermalink

Ok, just an update on things for those that care. Yeh, bit of a ramble, and probably not much interest to most people, but anyway. The US server is pretty kick ass, I'm loving it! Tonnes of features and options for me as an admin..

I've put up Sumea on there and it seems to be working fine with the database so far. There is an issue with latency however (as Daemin has pointed out to me), it's slightly slower grabbing files half way around the world to us locals.
Anyway, I've found a pretty simple but more costly solution. I'll be downsizing the current local plan that the site is already on to 20mbs, and have it host just the website gfx and thumbnails, and have the US server host the database, the pages, and all the hefty member images.

I've been checking out on what I can do with the new plan and it looks like Sumea can offer some more services to people. Ftp accounts, website under the sumea domain with own seperate bulletin board, sumea email address etc.. I'll probably offer a package with 20mbs space per account and charge some annual fee (thinking $60) for it. It'll be nuts if I give it away for free to everyone, space and bandwidth isn't unlimited, and it'll help me recoup at least a tiny tiny bit from my work.

Tutorial CD/DVD Compilation Plan

Forum

I have to say, the tutorials on the Special Edition of Unreal Tournament 2004 are *absoutely* brilliant. I'm quite impressed with the video tutorials. The people doing them definately know what they're talking about, and you learn so much more and easily just by watching them clicking around the interface and explaining as they go. I've never used Maya before, but there were a fair introductory tutorials on the dvd which explained a lot of things and has me very interested in Maya!

The video tutorials done by the people at 3D Buzz, and they have plenty of these 'Video Training Modules' for download free on their website (all you have to do is register). You can register as a member and get them sent to you on a cd but apparantely that takes a while since "3DBuzz has one of the biggest memberbases of any site on the web. With over 30,000 members now, and more people joining everyday (and with only one person to do all the burning, labeling, and mailing)."

Where am I going with this? Well, I'm thinking perhaps we should get our collective acts together and download all these tutorials from 3DBuzz and any other useful free tutorials around. We'll send what we have to a nominated person to compile the lot on dvd or cd and then burn the lot for those who contributed in downloading.

Of course, if anyone else is interested in a copy, I'm sure it can be sent for a nominal charge for postage and blank dvd/cd. It's my understanding that these tutorials are freely downloadable and can be distributed without profit (if you find anything different, let me know). I really think something like this would benefit *everyone* here, so what do you think?!

** ok, I just had a look at the download page, and there seems to be so much stuff there. It might be possible to get them if there are a lot of people here on cable/fast connections, but I'm probably being a bit optimistic (it would require the generosity of high speed users here [:D]. I'm sure there are gigs and gigs worth of tutorials). There's tonnes of great stuff there, from Maya, XSI, 3DSMax through to Concept Art, HumanIk, and Photoshop. Probably worth looking into purchasing them all if there is an option.

Great! We have 7 contributors (including myself). If there are more people willing to downloada an issue or 2, let me know! You'll get back a multitude more in return for your efforts, trust me

ZBrush - Issue 1 (Inglis has Basic Overview from Issue1)
Maya - Issue 1(Inglis has), Issue 2(Inglis has)
3dsmax - Issue 1(Inglis has), Issue 2(Inglis has), Issue 3(Bullet21 has), Issue 4(Bullet21 has - missing chapter 4 eyes, maybe Stu can send), Issue 5 (Stu has)

XSI - Issue 1 (Inglis has)
PHP & MySQL - Issue 1 (Inglis has), Issue 2
Photoshop 7.0 - Issue 1 (Inglis has)
Quake III Game Design - Issue 1 (Inglis has)
Unreal Tournament Game Design - Issue 1
MOTIONBUILDER - Issue 1(Inglis has), Issue 2, Issue 3, Issue 4, Issue 5
Houdini - Issue 1(Inglis has), Issue 2, Issue 3
Combustion - Issue 1
UT2003 Game Design - Issue 1, Issue 2, Issue 3, Issue 4, Issue 5, Issue 6, Issue 7
Creating Concept Art - Issue 1, Issue 2
HumanIK - (it gets a bit funny with issue numbers here)

Lightwave - Issue1
Gamespace - Issue1(Bullet21 has)
Unreal Tech - (Inglis has Introduction to UnrealEd from Issue1)

I have Maya Fundamentals..
01 - Maya PLE - Intro
02 - Maya Modeling Basic
03 - Maya Animation

X5 is sending in:
HumanIK Issue 1
Concept Art Design Issue 1
Concept Art Design Issue 2
PHP & MySQL Integration Issue 2

So anyway, I'll update this list on who has what, what shouldn't we bother with (e.g Quake III Game Design) and for the people who volunteered to nominate certain issues to download. Some things we might have to skip like the Unreal Tournament 2003 stuff since I have 2004 relevant vtms.

Maya is turning another one :cue evil laugh: ;)

I have DSL and I am always looking for stuff to download. IF you would like me to download anything, just let me know. I also have a DVD Burner.

Submitted by inglis on Thu, 01/04/04 - 8:17 PMPermalink

Firstly, its not 30,000 members- its 111,000+

Secondly, you can not download all the training videos straight away after becoming a member.
They have just put in a system where you get stars for the more active you are in the 3dBuzz community. And you need x amount of stars to download more than the basic intro videos.

I joined 3Dbuzz way back in the day when they started mailing out the videos on cd. Now the member base is 10x bigger and cant really do that.
So I actually have a few cds here, they are:

Motionbuilder Issue 1
Houdini Issue 1
3dsMax Issue 1
3dsMax Issue 2
Maya Issue 1
Maya Issue 2
XSI Issue 1
Quake 3 Issue 1
Photoshop7 Issue 1
PHP/MYSQL Issue 1 (on the same cd as Photoshop 7)

Submitted by souri on Thu, 01/04/04 - 10:30 PMPermalink

Darn, I knew it was too good to be true. [:)] Anyway, that begs the question if you would be generous enough to share those cd's! (I know it might be too much to ask but it's worth asking and would save a lot of time - people can try getting what you don't have).

Hey that's great! Excellant!

I could be the nominated person to do the compiling if you guys like. For those contributing (sending in what they can download), I'd be more than happy to cover the blank dvds (hopefully not tooo many!), burning task, postage and packaging costs, and sending it to you once we fill up discs.

So I guess we can get started on what needs to be downloaded, and who's willing to download what?

btw, I have Maya Fundamentals..
01 - Maya PLE - Intro
02 - Maya Modeling Basic
03 - Maya Animation

Good stuff! It would be great if you can send in 3ds max issue 5 and those other tutorials you mentioned (max 6 etc).

I was just about to get my P.O box this afternoon - I filled out the form, handed it in, waited for them to process, and got the call to pick up the key/pay, but I've decided not to get it. I'm in the process of moving in a few weeks, and it'll take me an hours drive to check my P.O Box. So once I get a P.O Box happening near my new location, I'll let you guys know.

Also, for those that want Sumea t-shirts, I might not have a P.O Box in time before the IGDC, so since I'm flying down to Melbourne for the conference, I'll just bring some shirts with me, so if you're going to be at the dinner or the conference, you can pick it off me then. It'll save you $5-6 or however much it is for the packaging/postage costs as well. (Plus you get to see the shirt first to decide if it's worth buying or not [:)]

The shirt design is done (including tracing the art through illustrator) and it's ready to be given to the printers to print, I've just been pre-occupied to call around to get quotes.
